Can wearing a bun change your NG?

ShinkyShinky Posts: 50Registered Users
I know it sounds stupid, but I think wearing my bun is changing my NG in the front. My new growth is very straight in the front. It is not kinky or anything, it just looks like how my relaxed hair would if it was blow dried. I know it isn't heat damaged because every since it has grown in it has looked like this. The rest of my hair is a mix of zig zags, curls, coils and kinks (4/a-b). It looks like a totally different person's hair. Do you think that the tension from pulling the hair back in a bun causes the curl pattern to leave over time? Please tell me that after I BC it will coil up?

BTW.. I am 11 months post and plan on chopping at 18 months.

I don't think that putting your hair in a bun constantly would do that to your new growth. I transitioned for 1 year and 2 weeks before BC and that did not affect my coils. I think that the front of your hair may be a much looser texture. As you transition, the relaxed ends are more weighty and pull the new growth downwards. When the relaxed ends are cut off, then the natural hair can coil / curl up easily. Thus, the front of your hair may be wavier. :)

    Thank you blessed.

I sure hope it coils up. It has NO curl pattern, it looks like straight relaxed hair.

As long as your sure its not heat damaged i'm positive your curl pattern is fine. As your hair grows out it is more and more weighed doen by the relaxed hair and it will make your hair appear straight just like blessed said. Also a lot of people have a much straighter texture in the front. Once you cut it im almost positive it will curl

Have no fear. Once it is not heat damage, then you have no worries. It will curl up. :toothy10:

I'm glad I found this thread. I'm 7 months into my transition and having the exact same issue with the 4 inches of new growth I have in the front/on top. The hair just barely waves up in that area.

Glad to know it'll do some coiling or curling after I chop the relaxed ends off in a few months.
