Plopping "towel"?

DCurlyGirlDCurlyGirl Posts: 5Registered Users
What do you use to wrap your head with when you "plop"? I notice some people use a flour sack?? Where do you get those?? I tied my bath towel but I fell over! Well, not really, but I sure felt like the leaning tower of Pisa.

I'm new myself but I am pretty sure you are not supposed to use a bath towel. An old Tee Shirt is what I use......

terry cloth bath towels are too harsh

Yep, bath towels have a rough texture that can cause frizz, so you want to use something smooth.

The flour sack towels are old fashioned, smooth weave, thin cotton kitchen towels. You should be able to find them at Walmart, Target, or Bed Bath and Beyond.

A smooth textured t-shirt is a good alternative.

Another alternative would be if you can find a smooth microfiber towel (not one of the terrycloth ones). I made microfiber "towels" from some smooth twill microfiber fabric I found at walmart. If you're handy with a sewing machine and can find some microfiber fabric, all you need to do it cut the fabric to the size you want, and zig-zag all the way around to prevent fraying. Make sure the fabric you choose is absorbent though! When I made mine, I bought 3 different colors. Two of the colors absorb moisture very well, but water just beads up and rolls off of the 3rd color, making it utterly useless as a hair towel.

I use an old T-Shirt too...and I JUST learned that. I was rubbing the mess out of my head and wondered why my curl pattern was so disturbed.

I have tried plopping with my microfiber towel & a t-shirt but my favorite is the flour sack towels. I got mine at Walmart for $5 in the kitchen section where the dishtowels are.

I love Struttswife's plopping method. you can do a search for that thread.
