calling all stylist...

what is the difference between a deva cut vs others such as Aveda.. ?
3b/C with nicer curls on the bottom!
Hair: naturally very dry and VERY porous
hair seems to be moody.
Does not seem to like oils
Does not like protein or too much?
Does not like rich products

So, I ask myself. What does it like? That is the question, and I'm on a mission.

It's all in the technique and philosophy of the stylist. Those stylists who subscribe to the Deva type style of cutting cut each individual curl cluster separately. They believe that cutting the hair in it's naturally curly form (dry) will help them to understand each curl and how to make it behave best. They use only shears to cut the hair and try to be as kind to the cuticle as possible (using a razor or slide cutting leave the cuticle susceptible to damage).
Some stylist don't agree with or understand the need to cut each curl individually. They choose to use methods and techniques that they have learned in the course of their cosmetology training or in other haircutting courses; cutting the hair while wet, using thinning shears, slide cutting, and razoring. As long as the overall end product looks good they are happy. The ends justify the means.
Both want the customer to be happy, hopefully;-). What it really boils down to is what you can accept. If the results are beautiful and you like it, do the ends justify the means?
I hope I answered your question well enough. If you have need of further explanation or more questions just let me know and I will be glad to help the best I can.
