CurlTalk

finally! a haircare co admits the tv ad curls are from an iron!

Look at how Pantene says to get "organic curls" like in the Pantene commercials!

/home/leaving?target=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.pantene.com%2Fen-US%2Farticle%2Fgetthelook_organiccurls.jspx%3Fsrc%3Dpgeds" class="Popup

This step was the most telling.

Step 3:
Section dry hair and use a medium-barreled curling iron to get waves that are defined but not too tight. Hold the iron vertically and curl each section by wrapping the hair around the iron and leaving the ends lose for an undone look. Pin curls into place as you remove the iron to allow them to cool and set. Spray curls with a Pantene Classic Hairspray-Flexible Hold for hair that has movement and staying power.

At least they admit it, but arrrgghhhh! Do they know what image they portray as to how curls should look?

LOL, that model had naturally curly hair and they straightened it, curled it, and brushed it out with the blowdrier again to get her "curly" look.

They don't seem to think there's a problem with their methods - not hiding it or they wouldn't have posted a "how to" video about it. I think that type of styling is really common with stylist who have no idea what to do with naturally curly hair.

So to get "organic" curls, we're supposed to blow dry, use a curling iron, then brush out and blow dry AGAIN?

My hair is cringing just thinking about that!

    Yes, don't you understand? :p

No, seriously. I see so many tutorials on how to get curls and a lot of them require flat ironing hair and using a curling iron. Stupid if you ask me.

I sent the link to my DH and told him this was proof of their methods. I've been telling him for years that was the case.

He made the mistake of asking me a few years ago why my curls didn't look like that. :hmph:

Hee! He won't make that mistake again, now will he? ;-)

I guess it's refreshing to see a company 'fessing up to its methods. Interesting interpretation of the word "organic" though.

    Wurly and proud!

as if air-drying/diffusing my hair curly doesn't take long enough, now i'm supposed to section it, blow dry it, flat iron it (i would have to in order to reduce the volume), and then curl it with an iron? HAHAHAHAHA. they're so funny.

    :p

i particularly loved the part of the video where they sprayed a curl enhancer on her damp hair and then blew it dry. wtf?

That made absolutely NO sense. I expect that they were just trying to work a plug for another useless product into the video.

Exactly! The funny thing is, in my experience, the days that I get the most compliments on my curls tend to be the days I've spent the least amount of time & effort on my hair. Go figure, and take that Pantene. ;-)

Ridiculous! The model's hair was beautiful before the stylist processed it. And why use a curl enhancing spray and THEN straighten the hair? And THEN use a curling iron? Someone should probably be fired for that.
