OK FL curlies - it's meeting time!

tinahtinah Posts: 1,195Registered Users
I was on the phone with Tiffany (struttswife) today. We were talking about mine and goobernut's appointment on the 17th of October. Since it's been mentioned in the past that mid-October is a good time for a meet up - we decided that it would be the perfect time.

So the date is set for October 17th. We've yet to determine a meeting place yet. But for sure Tiffany Goobernut and I will be there. We need to nail down a location. We'll be doing an evening meeting so a nice (but perferably inexpensive) place for dinner would be great! So who all is in?

I would love to go, but I will be needing an appointment about then...don't know that I would want to make 2 trips from Deltona....I'll keep watching this thread, though :).

So make an appointment for earlier in that day! She might be able to do it since she's moving salons. then you'll already be there - you can hang out with me and goobernut while we have our appointment and then go out with us that night!

    Hey Mom :)

Even if you don't get to come to the evening thing, maybe you can come by and say hi while we're getting our hair done! PM me or Tinah and let us know. Either way, it'd be great to meet you.

Yeah I meant other shopping :) I need a Whole Foods fix, and they have one in Tampa and in Orlando. If its not to far away (or too far off the route) I wanna stop by one.

Is this going to be a curl gathering like we have donw before or is this the "curl event" that was discussed in the other thread to promote Tiffany's new salon?

There isn't too much by way of restaurants left around my new salon location since so many have closed due to the recession...although that certainly isn't a prerequisite. Starbucks is across the street, but I have the feeling a mob of curlies jacked up on caffeine and loose without supervision at night could be a bad idea :blob4:

We could go back to Pia's (Italian) or Siam Garden (Thai) unless everyone wants to go somewhere new. Carmelita's (Tex Mex) is right up the street. We talked about the Pier before, although that's more for ambiance than decent food, imo.

    Tampa area folks? Suggestions?

Oooh I love Thai, Tex-Mex, and Italian lol. I'm good for any of it. I need sustenance and then the drinks. I'm no good unless I've been fed. heh.

Oh fun! I couldn't make the last one and I really wanted to make the next one. My birthday is on the 15th so we'll see what my birthday festivities are but it may be a fun time with FL curlies! I can also carpool if anyone is headed from Orlando-ish area. Any kind of dinner is great but Thai tends to be quite rough on my tummy :D

I would love to do Pia's again, especially since it is my favorite restaurant, but that's Art Walk night. No reservations and no separate checks during Art Walk unfortunately, which makes it a challenge to plan a gathering there during those nights.

Anyone going to Gulfport anytime soon, though, check it out...it is a truly fabulous place:

Thank you Goobernut!! I'm really loving living here it is unlike anywhere I've ever lived before (and I've lived in a lot of places). I actually am curious if you have a stylist you would recommend? I probably won't get a haircut for awhile, but it would save me the trouble if you know of one already that does a good job with curly hair.
Thanks again, and I will definitely add you as a buddy on here.

    Tampa area folks? Suggestions?

Just on this side of the bridge there are lots of restaurants in the Westshore/Int'l Plaza area. There's a P.F. Chang's at Westshore, a Cheesecake Factory and others at Int'l Plaza.

Not sure I'll be able to make it. The meet-ups always seem to conflict with my annual conference trips out of town.

mrosev14 - I am not acquainted with anyone in Gainesville, unfortunately. I am personally located in St. Petersburg.

mpgirl and I were talking about possible places last weekend...anyone have an objection to Tex-Mex? We are thinking potentially Carmelita's at this point.
