flaxseed gel is the bombdiggity....

I used homemade FSG this weekend and I had some pretty happy curls. Here's a few pics.
Oh and for those that saw my post about my hair being too light....err, I guess it's not. I called the salon to have them make it a little darker, but jeez, in these pics it looks pretty dark.

one of the girls on the 2's board made it and sent me some. I'm really hoping she'll send me more. If not I'll have to try and tackle it myself. I heard it's easy:)

Wow! Loveee your hair! I really need to try it. I made it once, but I didn't do it quite right so I never used it. Maybe I'll try with BB's flaxseed gel.

wavy, its awesome to see the progression of your hair. In these pics, your hair looks more curly than wavy. I mean you can see where now they look like a loose "s" rather than a wave.

was it BB's or another seller? I tried making it myself and it was a huge messy disaster. lol - everyone else talks like it's easy. Maybe I'll order some next time. Some things are better left to professionals

    Your hair looks great!

it was someone using BB's recipe. I'm scared to make it;)

Your hair is going to be so beautiful long - definitely exciting! I wonder if you'll start to see some spirals once it grows? I really think you will - your hair is so curly and lovely in those pics!

Also, what shampoo bar did you use? I just ordered some from Kathymack, and I'm so excited! So many people say it's very curl enhancing. :happy3:

Hooray for FSG! My hair loves the stuff and I can get 3 - 5 days with it. It isn't hard to make at all - just don't boil it too long or it gets impossible to strain. I really like how it defines my wavy curls and has a hold that lasts and lasts!

    I will pipe in!

I have 2c hair and fsg is the best product I have found since I went cg (approx 3 years).

I buy the bb's fsg from etsy:

    http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=6934569

    or make my own.

Both are good. I use bb's smoothie condish as a leave in as well.

I find my hair likes the 'simple but good' ingredients and i like knowing exactly what is going in my hair (so many products dry my hair out over time).

When I make my own i add aloe vera juice and honey.

My HG products: BSRG, HE Totally Twisted Mousse, Burts Bee's green tea condish, Burts Bee's Super Shiney grapefruit condish

I saw some other posts on FSG today, so I made some :) My hair is mostly dried, and I have to say that all that FSG weighed my hair down. It is insanely shiny though.

I also added about 1 tbps of seamollient to my 5 oz of FSG. I'll have to wait till tomorrow to tell you if I like it or not lol.

ooooh, my FSG was IMPOSSIBLE to strain. I just had one huge blob o' mess. It was completely useless. Maybe I did boil it too long. Hmmmm...
  • goobernutgoobernut Posts: 2,317Registered Users
Yeah, that's usually a sign of letting it go to long. Its like those directions, "sauce will thicken as it stands."

Runny egg whites in pan = snot in the bowl. HA!

Ha good try, I'm not doing playing with it though. I have to experiment with it more. I have to try the batch without seamoillient in it :) hah.

Alright. I just tried this. Made it this morning and just put it in my hair. We shall see how it turns out when it dries. I have read so many good things about it that I just had to try it.

    ditto on the snot.

wavy wonder- your hair just keeps getting more and more amazing!

I LOVE FSG!!! the stuff is awsome! can't get enough! i love that it is so cheap too! great for tight budgets!
i've played around with it quite a bit and now sell it at my little towns farmers market! (its silly though, i am bad at buisness and hate to charge a lot so i really don't make much money, but it is fun, and i have gotten a lot of girls converted to CG, and nc.com! i think that is why i do it!)
but i add a little bit of everything- aloe, agave nectar, apricot kernal oil, mag sulfate and a little grapefruitseed extract and citric acid, and if you add a little xanthan gum and use a hand blender (or if you are making a big batch use the blender) to whip air into, that way it is easier to distribute and it holds the bubbles better and you don't have to use as much!

if anyone has questions on add ins or amounts let me know! i can help ya!
    2b, 2c / f / ii / medium-high porosity
Vo5-never again, i now can plop!
CG since may 09, and hubby LOVES the new wavy 'tude!

    DW-
That's a great idea to sell it at the local farmers market.
  • soonermomsoonermom Posts: 73Registered Users
So I used it and love it too. I only added some Lavender essential oil because it is all that i had. I thought I had some aloe, but apparently I didn't. Next time. What is the purpose for adding those items. I would love to make it better so I am interested in learning more.

This stuff is great! I will have to take a picture and figure out how to share.
