Urine for acne treatment...??

DominoDomino Registered Users Posts: 287
I've come across this a couple months ago on a forum I frequently visit. This advice was for ladies with PCOS, because PCOS almost always causes acne.

For those of you that don't know, urine is 95% water, 2.5% urea and 2.5% hormones, vitamins and minerals. In a healthy person's urine, there is no bacteria. It's not a "waste", it's just excess goods.

Now, besides the "ewww" factor and the smell...I'm thinking it may be effective because of the hormones in it. Many people have reported positive effects such as disappearing acne and scars, glowing skin etc.

I'm wondering if anyone here tried it...??

Ok, i'm sorry... I know i hate my PCOS acne, but that's just too far for me. lol, I'll take the acne...

(incidentally... after dropping about 25 lbs my face is SO much better than it was. It's still not perfect, but now I have like 1 cystic pimple rather than the 20 I had before...)

LMAO! I just have to make that my new signature!

I have never broken out in my life until now! I've heard of adult-onset acne, but never thought it would be me since I've always battled dry skin issues. I think it's some sort of PMS side affect because it hits around that time now. PMS is kicking my azz lately. I never knew it got worse with age. :?

Noooo I'm not quite that desperate, though. I'm going to talk to my doctor about birth control pills because if this is a PMS thing, that should help. Talk to me in a few months. If this doesn't go away, I may look your idea.

OK...I think the fact of putting urine on your face is just DISGUSTING:puker:

I have big acne problems, especially around the time of my period. I used to use Proactiv. It cleared my skin up a little bit, but no dramatic results. When my aunt referred me to Mary Kay, my acne was GONE. A forehead and chin full of acne, completely disappeared in one week! Here is my routine with Mary Kay's products:

    Velocity Facial Cleanser
Blemish Control Formula 3 Facial Toner
Acne Solutions Acne Treatment Gel (if needed)
    Velocity Lightweight Moisturizer

    Ahem!

Although I have never personally tried it (and yes Urine is completely clean), I do know two people who have and had AMAZING results!

The one girl I knew had extreme acne. She'd tried everything, even oral medications did not help. Out of desperation she tried this at the suggestion of her grandmother. Within a week her skin started REALLY clearing up.

I know it sounds gross, but really it's not. All she did was keep cotton rounds next to the toilet. She dipped it in the stream and applied as you would any toner.

After 2 - 3 weeks of doing this, though she still had her acne scars, she had very few incidents of acne.

Unfortunately I was not very close with the other girl, so I'm not sure what her regime was, but I know she did this religiously.

Well I personally would never use urine for anything..but I guess people that use it for acne curing is a lot better than using it to DRINK!

My husband and I love mixed martial arts..and we watch the UFC all the time... Lyoto Machido (an MMA fighter) drinks PEE!

    Check this out:

Lyoto Machida, who is challenging Rashad Evans for the UFC heavyweight title in May, told Brazilian fight magazine Tatame that his family has a long standing tradition of drinking their own urine:
“My father does that for a long time and bring it to us. People think it’s a joke (laughs). I never said it in the United States because I don’t know how the fans will react (laughs). I drink my urine every morning like a natural medicine.”
It sounds pretty outrageous, but Machida's not the only fighter or athlete who chugs his own pee. MMA's resident weirdo Luke Cummo does the same. Cummo explained that urine "contains minerals, hormones and elements that bind moisture to protein." Cummo says it's all part of the body's recycling process and it's a more common practice than Americans think. That said, this out of shape, unhealthy blogger will take a pass.

Yeah, I think it might have something to do with the acid (for your face and your teeth).

Maybe just use some ACV? hehe

You maybe right... I remember when I was younger my mom said that she and her sister use to take a cotton ball and rub vinegar over their faces to help with acne and she said it really worked well!

So I don't know it could be the acid. And I would much rather use vinegar than piss.

But I use ProActiv which works really well for me. So I'll be sticking with that and my Oil of Olay anti-aging products now that I've passed the 30 mark! LOL!
