BUT, let me know how the treatment works out, before and after pics are prefered....

    Thanks!

My goal is to keep the braids in until thanksgiving which will be almost 1 year post. Let's hope I can last that long
Hopefully this treatment will make the line between natural and relaxed blend better

    Ok, imma do it.
I'm searching high and low for liquid amino acids, I've only found orange flavored (online and pretty expensive) so far, think that would work the same?
  • EkaetteEkaette Posts: 356Registered Users
I've seen the same one she uses in Whole foods and vitamin shoppe and other health food stores

I'm not in the same country as you guys so we don't have Braggs here. Most healthfood stores here only have amino acids in pills....
We are a product challenged country.

Oh well, I'll try it with the one I can find (orangeflavored) and see what happens...

Ohhh good luck! What country are you in?
ETA I looked it up it seems like any brand liquid amino acids is fine, it doesn't have to be braggs amino acids

    I'm up in Sweden.:hello2:

I'm going to try to keep these sad braids in another week, then I'll try it and post the results here......

Maybe the orange flavor will eliviate the soy sauce stench that follows some...

    ETA:
I'm going to try to only use it on my ng, my textlaxed is already non-frizzy....

    Yay, can't wait!

I totally forgot about this until I saw that you had posted here again.
I took my braids out yesterday, started to rebraid last night but after a couple of glasses of wine I thought again.

I'm going on a search for the products monday morning.

    Don't forget the pictures!

I'm not transitioning but I did it once a few months ago. When I took off the plastic cap to rinse, there was a strong ammonia smell. My curls were temporarily stretched out but my hair was a lot drier with a little breakage on the ends following this "treatment"...took a lot of deep moisturizing treatments to get it back to normal. I wasn't impressed.

From what I read it's definitely a protein treatment so a good moisturizing DC afterwards is necessary

My hair likes protein but something wasn't quite right about this.

    Ok I'm getting nervous
Oh well I have my aphogee 2 minute and lots of moisturizing DC if it doesn't work

    Ok I'm marinating
Next time I'm substituting something less drippy than yogurt
I saw somebody on youtube use conditioner instead of yogurt
Hopefully it's a lot less drippy

So here's my review. I prepoo'ed with a mix of honey, coconut oil, and olive oil for half an hour with heat
Here is a pic of my hair. You can see there isn't much definition but then again I did just finish thoroughly detangling my hair from the braids. In one pic you can see a coily trying to fight through

Then I washed with a clarifying shampoo and followed that up with trader joe nourish spa moisturizing shampoo then got the treatment ready
I followed her instructions to the T and left it in for an hour. Here is my hair right before I washed it out

There were a lot more coils peeking through. Even feeling my roots the coils were more defined and clumpy. I used Aussie Deeeeep and left it in overnight
Here is my hair the next morning
    DSC05647-1.jpg

Right now I'm sitting under the dryer with a rod set
Overall I think it does exactly what it claimed. I don't think it stretched my curls out any but I did end up with more clumpy, defined curls. The only thing I hated was how runny the yogurt became. I still have half a tub of yogurt left so next time I may add some mayo or conditioner to make it less runny

I definitley see some curl definition going on. Seems like the treatment worked pretty well besides it being so runny. I think we are hair twins or at least cousins.

It did give you more definition but then again that could be because your hair is still wet.
Did it keep when it dried?

    Would you do it again?

I think it maybe be a bit hard since we're transitioning to get the full effect....

It kept it while dry. I think I will do it again just to use up the ingredients but I'm tweaking it a little. I don't hate it but I don't love it
I'll put up my results the next time I try it

ok i tried this treatment for the first time...sorry i have no pictures yet:sad1:...but this will be part of my weekly treatment:hello1:..i noticed a big difference after this..here's what i did.
i co washed my hair on friday evening (i co wash daily in the mornings, but with this treatment, on fridays that will change to evenings). I left it in a puffy, frizz ball until saturday morning:brilsmurf:, because this should go on DRY hair. I mixed the organic yogurt, liquid amino acid and baking soda together, parted my hair with my fingers and applied it..I left it on for about 45 min to an hour. When i rinsed it, I didn't notice a big difference at first. I only rinsed it i did NOT co wash, I applied [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Kinky-Curly-Knot-Today-p-207.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=kinkycurly-knot-today-leaveindetangler]kinky curly knot today[/buylink] as a leave in and immediately the coils came togethers better then any other time I had used this product..There was a huge difference, especially after I applied the ecostyler gel..The curls just clumped together, it was amazing. Now I'm thinking with weekly treatments of this, there will be significant improvement of curl definition over time:p
