HELP ME!! I relaxed my hair.. i want my curly hair back :[

Going through middle school I had the thickest and curliest hair anyone has ever seen. And I hated it. My hair was just to much to handle. It took all the strength in the world to put it up in a pony tail. I was teased and tormented and everyone called me "poofy hair" I hated my hair, I came home crying to my mom about how I just couldn't deal with it anymore. My mom discovered from her salon about how to " relax your hair" (meaning getting it perm straightened for about 6 months) I decided to do it because i just wanted to escape from my hair. I got my hair permanently when i was 13. At first for a couple a months i enjoyed it. But then i started to realize the damage it had done. When it came time for my next appointment i refused to go in. I wanted my curly hair back. My curly hair started to grow in, but not fast enough. When i touched it, it felt rough and frizzy. Not like what my hair used to be. My hair became half curly and half straight and it looked horrible. I couldn't wear my hair down. I wore it in braids every day to school. I started to get on fish pills hoping it would help my hair grow faster. I finally got up the strength to go to the hair place and get most of my relaxer off. I'm 15 now and I got my hair relaxed february 2008. And my hair still hasnt grown back good yet. I miss my curly hair, i was too young to know how to handle it. I wish i could just wear my hair down like all the other girls. I don;t know what to do. I'm embarrassed and ashamed and i wish i had never relaxed my hair. School is starting and I don;t know what else to do except straighten my hair every night for school. Which takes me an hour or more because i just have SO much hair. I'm tired of feeling ugly because of my hair. I don't know what to do. I just want to disappear until my hair grows back.

I'm sorry this is so long.
I've tried talking to my family but i guess theres nothing they can do. They can't personally make my hair grow faster.

I just hope someone can help me. I just want to feel pretty. And not like such an outcast. My hair was so beautifully long and curly, I wish I could go back and change what i did.

Please help me.
:[ i don't know how much more I can take of this.

When I was in middle School my mom would take me to get my hair relaxed. I liked it for a while also, but as I got older I began to appreciate my curls. My hair eventually grew its curl back, it just took a couple of months for the relaxer to wear off. I would condition really well, I know relaxers cause lots of damage. You may look into taking hair vitamins, other than that just wait it out, it will be back to normal before you know it.

So I say to you. Be patient :occasion7: Have fun learning about different products and trying different products while your hair is growing. ITS WILL GROW :occasion7: I promise you. Coconut oil is awesome for growth! Olive oil is too. I will say that once you do that big chop your hair growth will be more than it is with the permed hair still on your head. But I know your not ready for that but I advise you to wear half wigs or kinky twist untill your hair grows out and these will cause your hair to even grow as well. I'm praying for you and check out sera's videos on you tube and see where she started from!

A product to make tranistioning EASIER!
Scissors. Think of it like this, your mixing dirty clothes with clean clothes, you can use all the perfum you want (hair product) but the dirty clothes (permed hair) will never be clean, will eventually get old, raggedy, and eventually start shredding/breaking(natural&permed hair). Don't waste your time. Transitioning for most is a :boxing: fight that relaxed hair will win!

I know this is can be a stressful time in your life, but don't get too upset. As long as you are eating healthy, drinking plenty of water, taking your vitamins your hair should be on a good course to a nice healthy growth. You should also be sure not to manipulate your hair too much with heat because that can cause heat damage/ breakage. When you wash your hair make sure that it's throughly conditioned and hydrated. Maybe this is a good time for you to try out new styles for your hair that you can do yourself, such as twists, twist outs, coils, coil outs, braidouts, flat twists, wash 'n go, cornrows, box braids...etc there are endless things you can do with your hair! Dont worry!

Thank you guys so much for the encouragement and support!!!! I appreciate it so much. Its nice to hear from people who have been through the same thing.

I feel like I can do this now.
I'm going out shopping with my mom today to start searching for a product that works well with my hair and helps hydrate it (:

Look at my Fotki to see how much my hair has grown since mid-March. I've used Komaza Honeycomb Rejuvenating Treatment a few times, but mainly I take fish oil and a good women's multi-vitamin, I get biotin and MSM in supplements I take for other things, both of which are supposed to contribute to hair growth, and I'm consistent in taking all of these - won't do any good if you aren't. Last but not least is to just to eat well, a good, balanced diet incorporating a lot of good omega 3's from fish, nuts, etc.

I agree with Nicky that you should refrain from the damage a straightening iron would cause and try some of the options she suggested to get you thru. Heat really does damage and will cause breakage, especially on chemically relaxed hair - it'll seem like it never grows.
    2C/3A/3B - modified CG - fairly fine now, normal/low porosity/normal elasticity

Current Main Rotation: MG217 medicated or Aim2Health 'poos for scalp, Elucence cond., Spiral Solutions Protein & Deeply Decadent Cond., CJCCCC reg or lite,CJ Pattern Pusha,, Giovanni LA Hold Hair Spritz + lots more, sporadically

HG Method: Super Soaker + Smasters-ing, brief upside down diffusing w/360o diffuser then clips/clamps & air dry. Newly gray - stopped my henna glosses!
