What to do before bed. HELP!

When I sleep in my curls, i wake up looking like a monster!!!! i cant comb them out, because then my hair will poof up. I have to get up @ 6:00 a.m for school, and I am tired (literally) of having to get up 20 minutes earlier to make my hair presentable. It makes me really upset and I am really tired in my classes. Is there a way that I can take a shower at night, sleep in my curls and do something to them in the morning to make them depoof and look normal? Somebody help me!
Oh, my hair type is a mix of 3a and 3b (if you can picture that...) its just weird

Pineappling works for many. I do a version of that, since my hair isn't quite long enough to get it all in the pineapple. I make two pigtails high on my head, which helps protect my hair from tangling. In the morning, I let them down, wet my hands, then run them lightly over the canopy, through my hair, then scrunch, which refreshes my curls. Because I can judge by feel just how damp I've gotten my hair, I know when to stop adding moisture before it's gotten too damp. My hair dries quickly after reclumping and forming fresh curls.
    Peace,

I also recommend getting one of those satin sleep bonnet's..they may not look too great but they really work. We use that for my daughters hair (she's a teen) and her hair is so much better in the morning you would not believe it!

Yes, pineappling is good, as long as your hair isn't too short... also, have you tried plopping overnight? If you've got 2-type hair you may find this technique doesn't work, but I don't think you mentioned what type of hair you've got.
Thick, mostly 2c with some 3a; fine texture, medium/high porosity, and a very strange curl & wave pattern.

Started CG (properly) as of 6/31/2009.

Cowash | Suave Naturals Ocean Breeze or Juicy Green Apple
    Rinse-out | Burt's Bees Super Shiny
Leave-in | Live Clean Intense Moisturizing
    Gel | HESMU

Hey pineapples! (Pinapplers?) Doesn't pineappling give you a dent where the pony holder has been all night? I am considering this for later on when my hair is long enough.
2B low porosity low elasticity fine texture
I'm not CG - tried it and failed for two years. My scalp hates it.

I once borrowed my friend's scrunchie at a sleepover and my hair turned out great, without any lumps where the ponytail used to be. I keep forgetting to buy scrunchies because it's summer and I don't need to wake up at five every morning (for band class), but they're really good and a lot easier to use than regular elastics.

    PINEAPPLING WITH SCRUNCHIES!!!:blob7:

If your hair is long enough, it works great and no dents because it's still kinda loose. I pineapple and sleep on a satin pillowcase. It has been working great. I can get good 2nd and sometimes 3rd day hair. I have also plopped with some success with one of those turban towels, but I more often use that to DT overnight.

    Good luck!!!

My hair is too short to pineapple, but I have been seeing a huge difference in what my waking up hair looks like since I started sleeping on a satin pillowcase. It doesn't sound like a big deal, but it makes an amazing difference! We used to refer to my morning hair as "Medusa Hair" and I always had to completely wet it down to make it presentable. Since switching to a satin pillowcase, I've consistently been able to get 2nd day hair with only a few light spritzes of water to help arrange my hair.
Still reading and trying to figure all this out, but I think my hair is...
2A/3A/3B - ranges from weak waves on top to tight ringlets underneath. Fine texture, normal-high porosity, thin density.

    Fave products:
Wash: Suave Naturals Coconut, some Abba sulfate free
Conditioner - JC Too Shea, AO GBP
Stylers - JC CC, JC RR, BSRHG

But I have a whole cabinet of other stuff to try out! LOL

I pineapple using a ribbon or scarf. I hate pulling my hair through scrunchies/ponytail holders now! Too much hair and it seems I can't every find one that isn't too tight or too loose. This way I can adjust it very easily! HTH

I used to pineapple, but a while ago I started overnight plopping. I wash my hair at night and style it and then plop. In the morning the towel is typically off of my head already. Another bonus of doing it at night is the only thing I have to do in the morning is my facial routine.

I stopping pineappling because it was pulling my wave/curl out more and I toss and turn so much during the night my hair would still be rather messed up. I find that plopping protects my hair more than pineappling.

I used to pineapple but would still get frizz. I LOVE the satin sleepcaps. They look idiotic but they WORK. I know where you're coming from - I don't shower until later in the day, not the AM, so SDH is critical for me. I just take my hair out of the cap in the AM and the curls are exactly like the day before!

    Hi Stacy,

Can you tell me where you got your sleep cap from? I bought one and it was huge for my head (my hair is short/medium length) and very uncomfortable. My hair looked awful in the morning. I think that I bought a bad cap. I got mine online.

    Thanks!

I'm also a huge fan of satin sleep hats. I love the Satinsakks kind right now since they are roomy, and the sating is on the *inside* which is quite helpful. I take off the cap, and boom, great hair.

Are you sure you where pineappling right? Because pinaeppling works wonders for me... well, you can always try the satin sleep bonnets, you can get them from Sally's Beauty Supply.

Surprisingly, it doesn't! Well, maybe that's because I use scrunchies.

if i don't feel like pineappling, then i'll wet my hair a bit-- not so it's soaking wet, just a slight dampness-- then i'll loosely braid my hair.
ohh, and it works a lot better if you sleep on a satin pillowcase!!(:

I never thought of buying a Satin sleepcap; I will definitely have to try it! My hair is very short, so I can't even get it into a ponytail, let alone pineapple it! :) I'd do anything to get second day hair. I've been having to shower and style it everyday!

I have a silk scarf which I got at TJ Maxx for about 10$ or so. I fold it diagonally and tie it on my head like a bandanna with the knot at the nape of my neck. 2 bobbypins at the top, and one on each side by my ears hold it on well.
My fiance thinks its hilarious but he loves that my hair isnt poking him in the face all night! and Im just happy that I can get 2nd day hair out of it by spritzing some water and a tiny bit of light gel!

i pineappled with like an elastic hair tie since i dont have a scrunchy yet. will this dent my hair? and will it come out.

And idk if i would call it pineapple because I put it in a bun. It seems to work for me.
