Not just good but crazy-good hair day!

tinahtinah Posts: 1,195Registered Users Curl Neophyte
I flat ironed my hair last night to go out cause I wanted to check the length of it. When I got home I washed it with a co-poo (suave coconut and therapee) then I was going to use my GVP K pak but remembered I have this giant bottle of Ion Effective Care and decided to use that instead. Went to bed with my hair wet and holy moly! I'm having a great hair day! I woke up with my hair a mess but not frizzy! I sprayed it down with water and put just a tiny little bit of BRHG in it and that's it. It looks awesome! I took one picture and the camera died. I'll try to upload it later.

I don't know if it was the Ion or just that my hair is getting much better lately from using protein treatments in general but let me tell you what - my hair hasn't looked this healthy and felt this soft and tangle free in.... well ever! Today is an incredible hair day for me and I've noticed over the last week or so (thanks mpgirl!) that my hair is getting better and better. I have very minimal frizz today and considering that it's 90 degrees out with a dewpoint of 74 that's saying a lot!! I've been out running errands this morning and my hair is still looking really good! I'm so happy I could just cry right now. I've been waiting and waiting for the CG benefits to kick in and they finally have I think!

So if you've been at it for a little while and still aren't quite seeing the results you were hoping for stick with it! It's taken me four months of doing this to find my happy place but I'm there!! You will be too if you stick with it!

I would say probably because of your flat iron...

I have use Ion - Leave Ins, Treatments. I don't like it
I also tried GVP - K Pace - This is okay. It softness a little bit...

I don't think my hair like protein

It's definitely NOT because I flat ironed that 's for sure! I think it's got way more to do with doing the right things for my hair like finding a balance between the protein and the moisture. I did use a reallly good heat protectant yesterday that I haven't been using in awhile so I'm sure that helped prevent the damage from the flat iron from being worse than it could have been. I only flat ironed to see how long it was gettingh.

That's another thing! I can't believe how fast my hair is growing since I stopped using sulfates. It would have taken almost twice as long for my hair to grow as much as it has in the past four months when I was using sulfate shampoo!

That's great tinah! It gives those of us that are in the early stages a little hope. I have been CG for two months and my curls have never looked better. People keep asking what have I done to my hair. I tell them and they look at me like I'm nuts. Oh well. We know it works, right?

I meant to mention that my best curl day came after I slept with GVP CB in my hair (covered with a plastic cap and a towel- don't you know hubby loved that:D!) all night. I rinsed out the next morning and did my regular routine. It was awesome! I may start doing that more. It does save some time in the morning.

 It feels so good to have a great hair day! I just recently discovered that my hair has been craving protein.

How long are you trying to grow your hair? I'm aiming to get back to bsl, but if my hair keeps getting healthier, maybe for once in my life I can go a little longer than that.

What's gvp cb? And more importantly, does it have protein??
    very fine/dense/high porosity
    No heat styling

Generic Value Products Conditioning Balm from Sally's. It's a knock-off of Matrix Biolage and there is no protein. A real deal at 16oz for $5 or $6. Even a better deal if you have a Sally's card. I use several of their products...see below. I call it my Frugal Good Hair Program. Plus it's easy to get. Actually everything I use comes from there. I really want good hair, but I just can't safford more expensive products. Of course, if it works, it doesn't matter how much they cost.:)!

No it doesn't have any protein in it but it's excellent at moisturizing and lots of girls on here love love love it. It's one of my absolutely favorite products.

I noticed a big difference in my hair the first time I used protein too. It really does help a lot to find the right balance! I'm glad your hair is doing so well! :)
