Frizz near the roots, what gives?

Mamacurl3Mamacurl3 Posts: 1,559Registered Users
I don't have time to take a pic right now, but I've been noticing lately that my hair is frizzy near the roots, is it new growth? bad distribution of product? How do you get product to your roots anyway without disturbing the curls formation?

How do you apply your products?

I comb thru my conditioner, then after I apply my products, I comb thru again and then use a pea size more gel and scrunch the ends gently just so the ends don't frizz.

+1. That said, it is pretty hard to pull out my curls since they are pretty tight. They always bounce back.

    Maybe not.

Try more conditioner by the roots, I use a heaping handful of conditioner for my shoulder length hair.

I also use a half dollar size amount of gel or even a touch more.

More product may work better for you and maybe rake it in to your roots once you comb, you'll redistribute the product thru the rest of your hair.

are you talking a rinse out or a leave in? or both?
I cringe at combing my hair, I rake with my fingers because even combing my hair wet makes it poofy.

I comb my hair when it is full of conditioner, then I let my hair "rest" for a minute or two and I watch the curls start. Then I rinse my hair thoroughly and add in my leave-in and then my products. I then comb everything thru again to make sure it's all evenly distributed thru my hair.

Some people rake thru and find that they can get the product in evenly. I found that that doesn't work for me and I had frizzies and spots where my hair clumped great and spots where I was just frizz.

I don't have poofy hair from the combing while wet and full of product.

I'm still at a loss. It's almost like it's new growth, they seem shorter and they are frizzy. It's driving me nuts! any thoughts?
