is texturizing right for what i want?

i have 100%natural/virgin 3c (mostly) with 3b underneath

i want to go from my 3c curls pictured to something like the second picture.

is texturizing what i'm looking for? i'd like a way to go about it without chemicals, but i'm not totally adverse to the idea if that's the only way to really get what i want.
thanks!
