i love the first one lennerd. Yous should cut your hair that length again. Very flattering on you!:love7:

Thanks, Wavy. I was actually thinking of growing my hair out, but maybe I will go shorter. I'm just paranoid that it will never look like that again. I think I am going to wait to do anything until it's healthy again and I know what I'm doing.

I think if I grow it out, I want to get bigger curls. Like, Taylor Swift curls. My brother's girlfriend is a licensed beautician, so I was going to see what she thought. I'm just scared that a perm or a body wave will damage my hair even more. :S

957Hey all, I'm new here and I just started the CG transition TODAY!! The only photos I have are my "befores" so this is my dry, worn out hair in all its glory. I used to have more curls, but ever since I moved to dry Colorado this is what I have.

BTW--Can y'all tell me WHAT type of hair it looks like I have?

I am not sure where I fall. My hair is wavy in the fall/spring, almost straight in the winter, and curly in the summer. I generally used to identify as a curly until a hair stylist said it was wavy...thoughts?

Leannerd, your hair will definitely go more wavy once you have been CG a while.

Runnerchicki, I'm not good with hair typing, but I'd say you're a combination of 2a and 2b with a little bit of 2c.

Loreas, to me you look like a 2b/2c, with maybe a few 3a curls hanging out underneath.

Hopefully some of the more experienced folks will chime in with their opinions.

All of you ladies have very pretty hair! Have you determined whether your hair is fine/medium/coarse?

So, I actually had a pretty good hair day yesterday and I thought I'd share.

Actually, I'm kind of mad at myself for not taking pictures after I took these clips out and parted my hair on the side. It ended up looking really nice and I got a couple of compliments on it. :D

I think I probably will end up getting it cut into an above-the-shoulder bob.

It's still pretty dry, but I think it's getting a lot better. I've been CG for not quite a week and I can already see a difference.

Hello new fellow wavies! I am horrible on typing and I'm not sure of what I am at all lol. My hair is wavy and then for the last 1 to 2 inches it makes a lazy curl.

I think eventually you'll find it doesn't so much matter if you are 3 or 2, its more about what your hair needs :) A lot of ladies who have 2 different types of hair (which is also very common) will post on both boards to get ideas on how to deal with each type.

Read around and see where you fit in! Even though my hair makes lazy curls the longer it gets (sorta like Loreas), I hang out here because most of my hair fits the wavy type, and I can't use the heavier products that the 3's use.

goobernut, I think you are right that hair needs trump hair type. After reading through the forums and the articles here I am pretty sure that I am a 2a/2b (at least in this dry climate). However, my hair really loves the heavier products so even though I'm a 2, I'm sticking with the super-moisturizing stuff. At least till my hair recovers from the highlights.

I'm only on day 3 of the CG routine, but I am already starting to see a difference. My hair is not so parched, and is feeling smoother. I think I got really lucky and put together a good curly cocktail on my first try! Although I'm not averse to trying new things. :love4:

You'll find that wavies vary widely on what they use. Some can use butters and heavy oils, some can't. That depends more on thin/med/coarse.

I would buy air in a can if it had hold heh.

and goobernut I tried to get that Artec gel today and they didn't have it! Bummer!

I also agree it is porosity and density and thickness of hair strand that really matter. For my daughter and I we've found that what is "IN" the product is actually much more important than if we are a 2 or a 3 or a 4.

I love the new pic's..keep em coming ladies! :love10::wave:

Wow, Motley. I'm jealous...hope my hair looks like that in a few weeks.

Hopefully getting mine cut next weekend, it'll probably look better once it's evened up and some of the weight's off of it, not to mention my horribly dead ends.

Wow! I can't believe how much my hair has changed already. I've already gotten more compliments on it in the past three days than I have all year. :D

    Today was a good day:

    ed6.jpg

I trimmed my bangs myself...they were really getting on my nerves.

    ed1-1.jpg

I'm just in shock with how much shinier and healthier it already looks. I can't wait to see how it looks in a couple of weeks, especially once I get all the dead stuff off the ends.

My mom told me today that she loves it when I embrace my curls. :)

BTW: Sorry for being such a picture junkie...I'm just really excited. It's been a long time since my hair's looked this good.

    So much pretty hair!

I just started my journey. I have had straight hair almost all my life and then the last few years (mid 30's), something happened...as I got some strands of grey, the whole texture and shape of my head started to change until one day I realized it liked being wavy more then straight and the more I let it be wavy, the more curly it is becoming.

So this was taken a few days ago. Even just a few weeks into my journey I see a difference.

    04momma5.jpg

I have always loved my hair overall...it is fine but I have lots of it, and considering it is waist length, it is soft w/few split ends. Again, looking forward to gleaning much wisdom from all you lovely ladies.

Smiling - Me too! My hair started going wavy in my late twenties, and now at 35 I've finally started to go with the flow.

Gekko -- I know this is supposed to be about your hair, but your eyes are sooOOOooo beautiful. Such an awesome color. I can't stop looking at your eyes (who cares about the hair lol)

Leannerd -- Freaking awesome improvement! Its taken me months to get anywhere with my goofy hair, and you've gone and done it in like a week. Woot for you!

Thanks guys! I really appreciate all the positive feedback. I'm so used to looking at other girls around campus and feeling intense hair envy and now I actually feel confident that someone is maybe envious of my hair. :)

    It's a good feeling.

Hi everyone, I just love all of these pictures. I hope my hair can look like this some day. I tried CG last year some time and gave up because I am so impatient. I just started again this morning so we will see how it goes. My biggest thing right now is my top is so flat with not much curl and I cant figure out what to do with my bangs. I tried putting clipping this morning and that seemed to help a lot but it is still not quite bit enough for me. Here are some pics below, I think I am a 2 but dont know about the a b c part. Sorry, I take horrible pics.
