I like your haircut. How long does it mesure? I ask because i"m growing out my gray and wondering how long it has to be for a similar style.

I think you mean me - My hair is layered with the longest layers around 5 inches. The shortest around 2 1/2 inches. For me, going any shorter kills the curl. Good luck!

I went mod-CG in mid-June and have been learning so much from this site! My hair is still not where I want it to be, but is definitely better than it used to be!

I decided to de-lurk to share a couple of pics.

The first is from early 2007, pre-CG, right before I donated 12 inches to Locks of Love.

The second is from a few days ago. A world of difference already, eh? And hopefully it will continue to improve!

Thanks. Yes, I mean you. I have mine in a chin length bob now, with about 3" of gray grown out. I'll need to wait a few inches I guess.
    Thanks!

    southernmoss that's awesome! HUGE difference!

oh and utopia, I just wanna say you are so adorable. Seriously! Though I know how you feel about your face being too round for a cut. I feel like I have "no chin" syndrome and I always like my hair to hang past my jawline on the sides. You will never catch me in a pony tail. yuk.

    Thanks everyone. :)

Pops G-ma, I can actually get root curl if I plop, but then I get these awful "bald spots" where my scalp shows between the curls. And then I mess with my hair so much trying to to cover the bald spots that it makes my hair frizzy.

So I've opted for straighter roots and less frizz.

Beckymarie, your hair is very pretty!

What are you using to shampoo? There are a lot of wavies (myself included) who low-poo. I use Jessicurl Gentle Lather or Jessicurl Hair Cleansing Creme.

The main thing is to get away from the sulfate shampoos.

First off... I LOVE everyones hair and can only pray my hair will look like some of yours someday. Still in a learning process.

Here are a couple pics. This first one is today after a long, full, busy day with not much time to work on my hair this morning, so it doesn't look very well, but I am having some problems lately. Not looking as well as it did when I first transitioned, so I am not real sure what to do to make it better
    DSC01279.jpg

This other is this weekend at the fair with my baby. Looks like I have better hair that day, but not real sure, it was rainy that day and being the weekend... not sure i had alot of time to do a whole lot.

    DSC01262.jpg

    Lets hope this works...

Yes, around my face is much more curly than the back... any ideas how to fix that?
  • CrystalRainCrystalRain Registered Users Posts: 170
That's actually pretty common in wavies. It should get better with time on CG, as long as you make sure to pay special attention to the back of your head, so to speak, in terms of product application and such.
Thick, mostly 2c with some 3a; fine texture, medium/high porosity, and a very strange curl & wave pattern.

Started CG (properly) as of 6/31/2009.

Cowash | Suave Naturals Ocean Breeze or Juicy Green Apple
    Rinse-out | Burt's Bees Super Shiny
Leave-in | Live Clean Intense Moisturizing
    Gel | HESMU

Right now: growing hair past shoulder-length, looking to take decent hair picture (my avatar is my first day of CG).

    I'm pretty sure I'm a combo 2a/2b.

This is me about three years ago, back when my hair was actually healthy (before I dyed it black :S)
    curly.jpg

And this is one of my senior pics, about two years ago.
    senior1.jpg

And this is me today. My hair is so dry and damaged; I just started CG and am waiting until I have a bit more money to buy some better CG-approved products. I usually just keep it pulled back halfway in a clip until it gets too poofy for me to manage, then I put it in a ponytail. It's still a little wet here.
    HPIM0443.jpg

I like the first one the best. I'm trying to get back to that, or better.
