here are some shots of mine 2something... almost none are "good" hair days, alas.

I really *think* I've got some 2c up in that canopy, but looking at what you guys consider wavy, I'm thinking probably not? It's just pretty coarse and thick and porous, so I want to get "credit" for that, lol...

velouria, I dig your big volume. I've got none of that, unfortunately. I especially love the 4th picture, so if that's typical than you've got a fantastic head of hair and I'm jealous. =)

anatidaephobia- thanks for the links. I just checked them out and apparently I have fine texture with high porosity. Not really sure what that means for me but I'm sure with a little more searching I will soon find out.

Wavycurly40+- thanks for the compliment. I just wish I was as happy with them. My biggest complaint is that my hair tends to have little to no curl near the root so it is flat there and poofy at the bottom. I will check out the newbie section though. Hopefully that will give me some tips.

mine is really flat too, because of the wave pattern. I "pin" mine up at the roots while it dries to take the weight off of it. you can see how to do it at devachan website-check the devad. its a funny to watch too!

Just took these today. The first one was taken in the shade and the second one was taken in partial sun. I was seeing how the color of my hair changed in different lights because of henna.
Your color is beautiful. Making me wanna go red again :)

I agree with Del. It's really nice to see sooo many 2s being proud of their gorgeous hair.

So after lurking a bit, I have a sneaking suspicion I may be a 2, although I've always identified as curly rather than wavy!

curlygurney, I love your hair. I used to perm and perm trying to get curls like yours. It wasn't until I found this site that I finally figured out I'm a 2 and my hair ain't doing that.
so now I'm learning to love my waves instead but I'm still envious

*LC*, your hair looks fantastic even without CG. I'm growing out heavily thinned hair (with the scissors, that is) and I can only hope I have that much density.
2B low porosity low elasticity fine texture
I'm not CG - tried it and failed for two years. My scalp hates it.

    Hi Julee, welcome!

CG stands for the Curly Girl method, based on the book "Curly Girl" by Lorraine Massey. It basically means using no products that contain any kinds of sulfates or silicones and shampooing seldom if at all (a lot of CGers scrub their scalp with conditioner; I have oily skin so I use a sulfate-free shampoo).

For styling I scrunch in LA Looks Curl Gel when my hair is wet, let it air dry without touching it, and then scrunch it out so it isn't crunchy. A leave-in conditioner under the gel helps with getting the crunchiness out.
