BonVit henna question

Hi,
I bought this henna today, BonVit 'dark red'.

The ingredients listed are: henna rhizia stricta and indigofera agentia. I'm just wondering if anyone has ever used this before? Is it ok to use if I already have chemical color in my hair? Is there anything I should add to get better results?

If the henna and indigo are the ONLY ingredients, it should be safe unless you try to color over it with regular hair color. Then, the indigo can cause unpredictable results. Henna alone is safe either over or under regular hair color.

If there are any other ingredients at all, all bets are off. That's why I use only plain body-art-grade henna and indigo - it's just the un-fooled-around-with plant.

Commercial henna products can contain metals, salts, and compounds than can give very unpredictable and undesirable results. That's why most hair stylists are so wary of touching the color on anyone who's used henna - most don't know the difference between BAG or anything else.

Thanks for replying. I did know not to use any henna with a lot of additives which is why I chose this one. I tried it yesterday and the results weren't bad, not a dramatic change but it definitely brightened the faded redish color I already had in there. I would love to try the BAG henna but am having trouble finding any, and am not sure that the henna for hair site ships to Australia. :dontknow:

Just be very wary if you decide to go back to regular hair color since it has indigo and possibly other ingredients that can cause problems.

If interested in ordering from Mehandi, just contact them about whether they ship overseas - they're very responsive. I'm pretty sure I remember seeing someone here talk about ordering from them from the UK www.mehandi.com
