I decided to try using mousse instead of gel because gels have just not been making me happy. I knew there had to be some mousses (or is it meese? ;) ) that aren't drying out there. I did some research and found good reviews for BTZ noodle head mousse from Sally's. And good reviews for the curl activating spray. I wanted to try and stay CG that's why I didn't go for the cream. As far as I can tell the mousse and the spray are CG. The mousse has one peg modified cone so I'm not concerned about it.

Anyway - I used the mousse today and I'm just in love! My hair looks incredible! It's curly and soft with very minimal frizz. I think if I'd put the mousse in right out of the shower it would be perfect but I couldn't wait to use it so I just sprayed my hair down with water and put it in. the only thing in my hair before it was my SheaM.

Since it's my first time using it I'm trying not to go too overboard with my praise but my hair is sooo soft and the curls are perfect and there's almost no frizz! And I'm in Florida and I've been in and out of the house and even sat on the porch watching the rain that passed through. Hair still looks great! We'll have to see over time if it dries my hair out but I don't see any bad alcohols listed in the ingredients (but I'm certainly no expert!).

With gel after about an hour or two my hair starts feeling really dry and yucky - especially on the ends. I've not experienced that so far with this product! I'm so darn excited! Keep your fingers crossed for me that I've found an HG!!! right now I'm totally in love!

That's great! I've been loving mousse lately, too. It's such a big surprise to have it work down here. I don't remember seeing that particular one at Sally's-how much was it? I have great results with one of the Vital Care ones now, but I see a trip to Sally's in the near future...:)

It was either five or six dollars but it was buy two Beyond the Zone products and get $3 off. So I bought that and the noodle head spray.

I'm glad you posted this, I picked up the JoiWhip that Burgandy locks talked about and Jillipoo recommended. It works fantastic! But kinda expensive at 17 bucks a can. I was sorry after I bought it (you know that moment of PJ remorse), but then I tried it and I think I like it better than other creams! Good to hear that BTZ worked for you :)

Btw Tinah -- we had rain down here too :) I was loading up cardboard for recycling into the car. Where'd you get the joiwhip from? I wanna try that stuff!

Btw - several hours later and as you know Goobernut - the humidity got worse when the sun went down - my hair still looks awesome! It feels good too! I'm so happy right now! When I get my shower tonight I'm gonna try the spray and see how that works.

I have to say I'm very confused :? I thought Summer meant lighter products but I keep seeing more and more posts about Mousse and Creams working so well. I know this particular mousse has a soluble cone in it and cones do work well in High Dews....I actually looked at it last week and stopped myself from buying it  I so don't need to experiment with more stuff!! I just want a simple routine and Summer is supposed to be easy but I'm finding myself constantly experimenting all over again........

I got the JoiWhip from Ulta. I was visiting a friend in alabama last week and she had an Ulta 10 mins away from her. Oooooh I got a ton of stuff lol.

I even got some of ulta's brand curling creme. It looks CG to my untrained eye, but it didn't work for me. Kinda weird. So far my fave styling products are the joiwhip or LA looks and BHRG combined the best. I dont' know why, but I have to combine the la looks and bhrg. Neither work right on their own for me -- but together they are great. I use mostly LA looks, and then a pea sized amt of BHRG.

Oooh and my publix has the 6oz BHRG for 7.99. That's like 4 bucks cheaper than wal-mart has it. I think they have it mis-priced.

I still wanna try CJ Smoothie and [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Curl-Junkie-Curl-Assurance-Aloe-Fix-Hair-Styling-Gel-p-941.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=Curl-Junkie-Curl-Assurance-Aloe-Fix-Hair-Styling-Gel]Aloe Fix[/buylink]. Well, creams can be heavy, but mousse is very light to me-every one I've ever tried. That's why I'm happy to see lighter products that actually have a bit of hold. I tried Joiwhip years ago and ended up giving it to someone on this board. That one was all moisture and no hold, but I may need to revisit it someday. I used the Got2Be Kinky again today that Hockeymom recommended, and, although it has less hold than the others I have, it made my hair soft and shiny. I wasn't going anywhere, so I just used that alone, and I had full, wavy hair-as close as I'll ever get to your gorgeous waves, Del...I think it just may be a keeper for when I don't want tighter curls. I need to go to my health food store tomorrow to get the girls' vitamins, and it's really close to Sally's...I think I'm destined to own another mousse if they stock it. It's dangerous with products under $5.00-it's so justifiable to purchase, but it adds up quickly!

I posted this on the Got2b mousse thread but wanted to post here too. If my experiment works I see no reason why I shouldn't run to Sally's & add this to my collection :bounce: do you???

I'm trying something new could be a bust but Oh well! Felt like experimenting today....... I layered CK under the Mousse to keep the Poof down and maybe add some hold to it. I'm trying to avoid putting Gel on top we'll see what happens.....I'm also air drying for as long as possible..I've got good crunch happening so that's a good sign!

thanks! This reminded me to update! I slept in this stuff last night. Today my hair still has a ridiculous amount of tight springy curls. The right side (the side I sleep on) is somewhat less curly and a little more frizzy than the left but it still looks pretty darn good. the hold on this stuff is impressive for being a mousse. It says it's a firm hold and I'm finding that to be true. It's a little bit dry today but not nearly as dry as gel makes my hair after just a couple hours. Itreally doesn't feel bad at all. I'm sure a spritz of water will bring it back to great. I am really loving this stuff so far.

Del - I love CK for frizz and with this I don't have any CK/KY in and my hair is soo much less frizzy than normal. You might not even need the CK with it. I really need to get a couple pictures of this. I'll see what I can do when the hubs gets back. Trying to take my own pics with my 2 and 3 year olds running around is pointless!

I went to one Sally's today, and they had all the Noodlehead products but the mousse. They carry it, but the slot was empty...so it must be good stuff! I mixed my Got2B and Aussie mousses today with awesome results, though, and compliments to boot so not all was lost. (And if anyone is in the Vol, Sem or Or county areas and wants CJ things, Dr Bronners rinse, etc....)

Ok just wanted to post a couple of pics. These aren't the greatest for a number of reasons. First of all - taken on a cell phone so kinda blah. Second my DH is just not that great at taking pics.

This is second day hair with the mousse. It looked GREAT last night but today is a little blah. You should be able to see the really good curl formation I'm getting from this. I do have some frizz tho but again all I did was spray some water on my hair and let it dry and then scrunch out the little bit of crunch there was. I did not add more mousse to it. Ignore how bad I look I've been doing housework and washed the dogs this morning. So... tell me what you think. It looks better than the pics but not as good as yesterday.

Aww thanks everyone! Not sure why I look so p.o.'d in the first set of pictures. I showed my DH the "befores" and he looked shocked. He said "wow! That really is an amazing difference." This coming from the man I've been married to for 10 years! I guess he kinda forgot what it looked like before.

I am very happy with the difference that these changes have made in my hair but I'm really looking forward to the next three months. I'm sure that it will be even better. And my hair is now growing soo fast! I've complained as long as I can remember about how my hair never grows. It's growing like wild fire now! I'm shooting for BSL hair! I'm not completely happy with it yet but it's getting there. I've learned so much from this place. Now I think it's just a matter of finding what my hair really likes and giving it to it. I'm gettin' there!
