All-Around Hair-Fix Advice Needed

I started CG last October and had really great results. My hair became less frizzy and stronger, my curls became more defined and began clumping better. Unfortunately, other than curling, most everything else has stopped working in the past few months. I’ve spent hours on this site and can’t find anything specific to address what I’m dealing with, so I thought I would ask.

My hair is a 2Cish, medium thickness and extremely fine.

For the past while, my routine has been: co-wash with a cheap conditioner, like VO5 twice a week, ACV rinse once a week (just found out this was too much), scalp rub with brown sugar once a week, KCNT as a leave-in, [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Kinky-Curly-Curling-Custard-p-778.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=kinkycurly-curling-custard]KCCC[/buylink] or FOTE gel scrunched in, plop for 15 minutes or so, apply BRHG for hold and then air dry or diffuse some.

In the past few months, my hair as become SO STRINGY. I have a rather oily scalp that likes to flake. My hair is not as soft as it has been most of my life, and it even tangles in the shower now, for the first time in my life. The hair also almost feels waxy. I used a honey and olive oil treatment with no results, and have tried putting a dot of honey in my conditioner, with no results. I’ve been a bit wary of a lot of the other moisture treatments because my hair is so fine. I don’t want to use anything that will make it incredibly limp. Since it seems a lot of treatments on this site are recommended by people who have a 4 hair type, I am sure that I couldn’t use all of them. Or is this even a moisture issue? I don’t think it’s protein, but I also don’t know that much. I live in TN, so I don’t think air moisture is a problem.

Thank you in advance for any advice and help you can give.

It might be build-up. I would clarify with either a sulfate or low-poo.

Many of rotate products to keep our hair from getting satiated. You may want to try out some new products.

Is that something that I'll always have to do every several months?

thanks! Does the low-poo clarify as well as the sulfate shampoo would?

Actually, it would be every day. Many of us have several products in each type--rinse out, leave in, curl enhancer, gel, serum, etc., that we rotate. I seldom use any product more then twice a week--and switch out things in the more humid weather.

There are some people that use the same products all of the time--but that's the minority. If you look at people's signatures, you'll get an idea of what people do.

That's what I was afraid of! I don't exactly have the budget or the space for that. I might be an anti-PJ. Uh oh.
