Removing semi-permanent dye (CG)

I coloured my hair with some semi-permanent dye, but the result is a bit too dark for my liking.

I want to get rid of it, but don't want to use anything too harsh on my hair. Is there a CG-friendly way of speeding up the fading? Would baking soda and vinegar do a good job?

thanks!

Things I have used in the past with hair coloring disasters (one of my specialties :hmph:): 1. ColorFix (Easy to use and you can buy it at Sally Beauty Supply. Skip step three in the directions). 2. Sulfate shampoo (not my favorite and dries my hair out) OR 3. Deep treatment with oil. Mix up some conditioner on hand with an oil, apply to head and put on a shower cap then something on top of this to keep your head warm. I use an old ski cap. I mix approximately one tablespoon of grapeseed oil to half a cup of conditioner. Number three has always worked for me and usually lightens it at least one shade. Hope that helps. You can also do this multiple times.

This is the skinny on Semi-Permanent hair color. It is harder to get out of your hair than permanent. Semi-perm is deposit only(makes hair darker or the same not lighter) if you try to lighten it with a permanent color remover it will drive the pigment into the hair not remove it. The only thing that will take it out eventually is time. Try Prell on dry hair under a dryer. This will dry the heck out of the hair so condition after and you will be fine. In the future always use a shade lighter than you think you want it to turn out. I have used this in my salon on home color snafu's and it should help lighten it a bit. You can do this a couple of times, the first couple of weeks. I hope it lightens up for you.

Prell shampoo or dishwashing liquid might remove it, but be prepared... you will have to do the DT's!!! You might even want to double up on the DT's for a couple of weeks.

    Thanks gals.

I might bite the bullet and use an anti-dandruff shampoo then a deep treatment. I just don't suit such dark hair :( I was just looking to add a little brightness/gold tones to my hair and the colour on the box looked like it matched my own colour, but it turned out a bit dark.

And thanks for the advice curlpro - will definitely get the lighter shade next time!

Don't do anything harsh to your hair. I second using a sulfate shampoo. One to three good washes and it will fade. Also a hot oil treatment will make the color seep out. Also deep condition longer than usual and the color will begin to leak.
