Please Help!!!!

I just found this site today. I am at a loss for what to do with my hair. I hope someone out there has hair like mine. I have extremely thin curly hair. Some of my hair is in tight ringlets (mostly in the back near the base of my neck) The curl of the rest of my hair varies. There are spots where my hair is almost straight (mostly near my ears). No one else in my family has hair like mine and I don't know what to do. I have HATED my hair my entire life. I would like to try a short hair cut, but I have a fairly round face. My hair cannot be long, if it is long enough to reach my shoulders it flattens out on top. I graduated from college 3 weeks ago and am ready to enter the workforce. I am going to be an elementary school teacher so I would like a hairstyle that does not require a lot of maitenence. However, every hairstyle I try either looks juvenille on me or my hair looks like crap most of the time. I recently started using DEVA products (which I love) but I just cannot find a hairstyle that I am happy with. I always threaten to just shave my head becuase then I would not have to look at my horrible hair in the mirror everyday! I am working on posting a picture on here!! I realize this is a long question but I hope fellow curlies can help me! I am desperate!

    Hi and welcome :hello2:.

I'm sure some of these ladies here might be able to help you. To start you off tho, you might want to take a look at this page:

Their hair might not match your curl formation exactly, but I'm sure you'll find a face shape that is similar to yours with all kinds of different options.

Also, I'm thinking that if you have a good stylist, they can help determine which cut would look best on you.

Check out the curl salons link and see if there's one in your area. A curly specialist can really help you find a style you love.

I hear ya. Years of frustration and no help because I was also the only curly in my family. :?

Don't fret! I've learned SO much from this site. I haven't straightened my hair in over a year and have come to love & appreciate my curls.

My hair sounds like yours: ringlets in some spots, waves in others, and some downright straight spots. My Deva stylist (curly hair stylist) cuts the straight spots shorter so they hide amongst the other hair.

    Good luck!
