I hate KBB!!!

hippychichippychic Posts: 4,673Registered Users
Dayum! I so wanted to say that and wish it were true. :stop:

I got my tester samples in and love every dayum thing I got.:icescream: I so wanted to hate them due to their long shipping times and gushing reviews. Why oh why did all the products have to work for my hair and smell so dang good?????!!!!!!!!

The hair lotion is divine. My curls were popping every which-a-way when I applied it at night and then again this morning under my ecostyler clear. No white residue, absorbed fast. It worked great with my Trader Joe Nourish Spa condish.

The hair butter is nice and rich. It provided mucho grande shine shine shine to my coils w/o leaving a greasy residue. I even applied it to my hands and it absorbed quickly and didn't leave my hands a greasy mess. I couldn't believe it!

The hair cream softened my coils (after applying to dry gelled hair) but didn't disturb the curl pattern. It was heavenly and so soft. I could smell the scent of my hair whenever the wind blew my way a little.

I'm just angry now cuz now I want bigger sizes :sign5:

Glad you love your samples hippychic. I recently rotated her stuff back into my routine and I forgot how much I missed her hair milk and hair cream :love4: I ordered cranberry cocktail in the milk and hair cream this time around and it is divine. I will be rotating between KBB and Oyin. These are officially my two favourite lines for my hair.

    What scents did you get?

I ordered honey oatmeal in her deep conditioner and it smells awesome. Very light. I think in the future I will order a hair milk in that scent.

At least she always has sales going so when you purchase full sizes you'll get a deal of some sort.

Lol. Yeah. I like the hair creme and all, but the shipping was crazy and it took almost a month to get it. I always get excited to see the discount e-mails but they always say something like:
Buy 8 and get one free!
Free shipping when you spend $200 or more!
$5 off a purchase of $150 or more!
Lol. Ok, so maybe I'm exaggerating a little, but I'm sort of cheap, or at least the economy has made me that way. I love trying new products just like the next person, but I realllllly hate shipping costs!

I love all KBB hair products but unfortunately, I just had to sell my hair nectar and super silky due to and adult acne flairup.

D@mned adult acne gets on my nerves. lol

The White Tea fragrance is truly devine.

I love the hair cream and the hair milk too.

Don't rememer flairups from the hair cream so I'll give it another try since I have a couple of jars laying around.

Well my thing is...i like the products, but when you do the math, you are paying $2 a ounce for the 8oz hair milk/necter/super silky, and for the 16 oz, you are paying $1.50 per ounce. That's a LOT of money for some glycerine, herbal infused water, and ewax...

I agree NCC, but all of these "freshly made" companies do this and it's one of the reasons why I don't order from them like I used to.

I love Curl Junkie and some Oyin products, but I feel I'm spending too much money for something that will go rather quickly (on MY hair) and the wait time (two weeks or more) is just ridiculous in this day and age.

I say these companies should make as much as they can using REAL PRESERVATIVES so these products can last awhile on the shelf and be ready to ship out ASAP.

I'm not in love with KBB's Hair Milk for my HAIR, but I love the scent. As a matter of fact, I'm using the vanilla latte hair milk as a body lotion. I don't plan on getting anymore hair stuff from them in the future, but I will most definitely purchase their lotions and butters.

I don't know if it's the glycerine, ewax or combination of both, but something in the milk shrinks my hair up something awful. I will never, ever again apply it to DRY hair, because I will have the ugliest hair ever. I tied it twice already and each time my hair looked dull, ashy (almost matted looking) and shrunk even MORE than when it was wet!

On wet hair it's great and I can suffice with some other products to get extra hair days, but I really bought it to use on DRY hair.

I may give CD Hair Milk another try. Someone told me they reformulated the product within the last year, so maybe it will work like it used to (before Jada and Jay Z invested in the company).

CD's overpriced too, but at least it WORKS and I can find it locally.

That's really unfortunate and you shouldn't have to wait TWO weeks to get your money back. I wonder why it's taking so long?

I have found KBB's customer service to be awesome, but no one's perfect. I hope you get your money back soon.

I think when some small businesses start to get an overwhelming response from new customers they aren't prepared to adjust to the volume of orders. I think this is why Karen's service has fallen off in the last few months. I love her dearly and will always be a patron b/c aside from her hair products I am in love with her body products. However, I think there may be a lot of things to juggle at the same time right now and so customer service in terms of getting orders out on time etc is suffering.

I haven't ever had any issues with getting products on time from her but I have heard my fair share of complaints from other customers.

Having said that I will always support Karen as best I can b/c she and her staff have always been very sweet and kind to me with all my online purchasing issues. Even when I went to visit her store in person a few months back she gave me a hug thanked me for supporting the store. :love4: Plus I like supporting black owned businesses that are trying to produce products that are actually healthy for our hair AND know how to treat a customer. These are just my own personal reasons but I understand the frustrations of others who have had bad experiences as well. Hopefully Karen can work out the kinks to her growing business and customers and things will start running smoothly again.

I agree that their customer service is exceptional, but like you said when a company decides to go "big", then they're going to have to prepare for the eventual onslaught of orders to follow.

The owner of Kinky Curly is having a hard time keeping her products in stock at major beauty supply stores and they have been voicing their disappointment.

Probably not what you want to hear... but maybe you can visit the store and voice your complaint in person since you are local. I know... you shouldn't have to do this. (just trying to help)

Yeah, this is true. I go to a store in Toronto that carries majority natural hair care lines. It's a definite frustration for the owner b/c she is always complaining about how behind in shipping orders many of the companies she orders from are. When I go there I try and stock up on my faves cause you never know how long you'll have to wait before the next order comes in. It's great being able to get Oyin and Kinky Curly etc on the ground but the wait time can be just as frustrating at times.

Hippychic, you silly.... I was thinking.. "man, KBB's hair milk doesn't work on my hair, but I don't HATE them" lol!

I was actually contemplating trying their hair nectar or super silky today. I just want one of those leave-ins to work because I want that Egyptian Musk!! :tongue1: Still, I changed my mind and just decided to wait til later.

    Glad you enjoy them!

So...even though I think its over priced...I just placed an order. Why? Because I gave a bottle to my 13 year old cousin and she loves it for her natural hair. So she just called me BEGGING me to buy some more..and she even knew about the sale (i think that little heffa went and looked at the website before she called me...lol).

At least with the sale, it works out to $1.33 an ounce, which is much better than $1.50 or $2 that you pay normally. But she better be GLAD that I dont want her momma to perm her hair (and therefore feel responsible to make sure that it looks nice).

    Man...ya gotta love family...lol.

i ordered during the Christmas sale, and i'm still going thru my fanatic hair milk and hair cream. the service was pretty quick for me, but the products are nothing special, except for the deep conditioner. my faithful mop leave-in and avocado butter or castor oil still do the trick, plus i HATE paying for shipping.
I'm going to Mexico until this bills business blows over.

Didn't like the milk. Thought the nectar was going to work out for me but I too had that wierd film on my hair after it dried.

The Hair Milk is good, but not great. I works just as well as using Trader Joe's Nourish Spa as a leave in. I use it mostly because of the smell. I LOVE the smell of the Coco Mango.

My favorite product made by KBB would have to be the Hair Mask. It makes my curls pop after using it. I just wish it wasn't $25 and in such a small container. I'm gonna have to learn how to make my own!
