making my own natural hair relaxer:::NEED HELP!

Hello, Ive got somewhere between 3b and 3c dark brown hair. I've been reading around about this Baka natural hair relaxer. I'm just wondering how I can make this or something similar to it at home. What ingrediants do I need, how much etc... And also some application directions would be nice. (Ill read up on this more)

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'm unfamiliar with this product. If it's anything like Rio, a "natural" relaxing product sold by infomercial several years ago and which was the subject of a class action law suit, I would avoid it.

Oh my gosh.. my cousin tried Rio YEARS ago.. she was dying to try it and I begged her not to... I told her I just knew something was crazy about it.. there is no such thing as a damn natural relaxer. But she has 4b hair and was always looking to be silky smooth. I kept telling that fool something was off about it and it even smelled wacky.

She died for me to put this crap in her hair.. I did.. and would you believe this burned my cousin's hair out like battery acid. Darn long thick hair..all broke the hell off and in patches. She was devasted..all she kept saying was.. "Why didn't I listen to you" through tears and shaking her head back and forth.

And I felt HORRIBLE because I felt like I should have just refused to do it or tossed it out even if she got mad! She ended up getting involved in the suit but didn't get anything because the fools went bankrupt or something.

I would be scared to death to do this mess... I am having a HARD time believing in this whole "natural" relaxer stuff. I would just go get a regular darn relaxer if I just HAD to have one.. instead of trying to play chemist at home.

But me.. I believe relaxers are the DEVIL for my hair..so I'll take the zero on the relaxer front and stick with my curls!!!

WOW - thanks for sharing - that's crazy. I wouldn't play chemist either, I think you're your own guinea pig. My curls are dry and brittle but I rather have some then none, right?
3b/C with nicer curls on the bottom!
Hair: naturally very dry and VERY porous
    hair seems to be moody.
Does not seem to like oils
Does not like protein or too much?
    Does not like rich products

So, I ask myself. What does it like? That is the question, and I'm on a mission.

You should checkout the Cherry LoLa hair treatment, my mom has been using it and her hair looks good, she has 4a hair. You can google Cherry lola hair treatment for the proportions, but the ingredients are plain full fat yogurt, natural amino acids, and baking soda.

THis is not a product like Rio or Copa at all. It truly is all natural. Sahara clay and a bunch of herbs like lavendar and nettles. You mix it with rose water or tap water, slap in on your hair and use a heat cap for an hour or so. That being said, I would not call this a relaxer. At best, this is a texturizer. If you go to www.treasuredlocks.com they have pictures of a lady with 4b/c hair that used it and went to a 3c/4a. I find that henna or cassia will do the same thing, and it's much cheaper.
There is a super long henna thread in the 4a section of this forum where people report that doing regular henna or cassia treatments naturally texturized their hair. I have done two henna glosses and have already definitely noticed a texturizing effect ( I left it in for 4 hours the first time and 12 hours the second). Check it out and good luck!:thumbright:
