Is it ok to leave Coconut and castor oil in my hair? I was trying to find some ways to keep my air moisturized during the day.

Both of these oils have worked wonders for me. I use the coconut oil over my leave in, and the castor oil on the ends when I twist at night. My hair has NEVER been so soft!

I'm co-signing. I mix coconut and castor oils in my hand to apply to my hair. It's best to use on damp hair (I find it doesn't feel as oily), and I only need to apply it once every 2-3 days because it's so effective. I have been using them for about three weeks, and I did notice some buildup prior to a recent bentonite clay treatment. But IMO, the benefits far outweigh that minor inconvenience. My hair is soft, moisturized, and silky. Plus it's growing a teeny bit faster with the castor oil applied to my scalp (directly, in oil rinses, and in deep conditioners).

Perhaps other ladies can chime in on how often they clarify, particularly when using the castor oil. To me, that's the only negative.

I just bought some Organic Pure Extra Virgin Coconut Oil yesterday from Whole Foods and put some on last night when I twisted my hair (did a wash-n-go the previous day) and I loved it today. It's so soft and shiney. I'm pretty sure the results would be even better if I did a twist and curl and used it. I will be doing that on Sunday to get ready for the work week! Can't wait!

I've been addicted to my Vatika Frosting which is basically dressed up coconut oil and I love it for just about everything so when that runs out, I will be running to the store and buying a big thing of coconut oil for my hair.

I oil my scalp with castor oil almost everyday and I apply it to the length of my hair while oiling my scalp. So technically I pre-poo six days a week. It leaves my hair super moisturized and soft and my scalp is soothed.
It is perfectly okay to leave castor oil and coconut oil in your hair.

I'm having a hair orgy with both oils too :love10:. I use coconut and castor oil for my homemade dc, but I use castor to seal my hair for twists and slick back my hair when I want it to lay down.

I love this combination! I've been using it for several weeks and my hair feeling divine:cheers:! I've recently started using coconut oil, but have been a fan of castor oil for awhile. I LOVE both of these oils together. I either apply both over a leave-in or skip the leave-in all together. I receive great result either way! So YES, OP it is more than okay to leave these oils in your hair.

Very interesting... I'm already using coconut oil and I was just reading yesterday on Jamaican black castor oil's health benefits and saw that it was also good for the hair.

Anyone doing that combo? If so, how are you using it?

    TIA

i combine the two. castor oil is too thick for me to use by itself in most cases. so i thin it out with coconut oil and use to seal in moisture on my entire length. i also use them together for oil rinsing.

Thanks for all the information guyz! I am def. going to have to try that! Cuz yesterday I was at a friends house, and I felt like my hair was soo dry! But when I asked my friends if they thought it was dry they said no.... Lol So maybe I am trippin lol.
But I have noticed that since I have a TWA, Im having a hard time figuring out how to apply products to my hair in a timely manner. Any Advice?

    I agree with everyone else..
My hair loves coconut oil and/or castor oil in the summer time. I either pre-poo with it, add it to my conditioner, or put it on my hair after co-washing.

Last summer I would apply castor oil to my hair after co-washing and my hair would be so soft and bouncy that I wouldn't need gel. The downside was my hair was TOO soft and I got really bad hair in afro disease LOL
