Suave coconut deep conditioner

I made a deep conditioner for myself (2b-3a) that is also meant to work as a regular conditioner for my SO (3b-3C).

1/2 of the 22.5 oz bottle of Suave Tropical Coconut Conditioner

4 tablespoons of melted unrefined virgin coconut oil (it will melt at 70 degrees F)

3 tablespoon of melted honey (heat it up so it won't lighten your hair)

Put all the ingredients in a bottle and shake. From what I can tell, the emulsifiers in the conditioner will disperse the oil and honey and keep it from separating, but its not a bad idea to give the bottle a shake before using.
Have several allergies and sensitivities.
Current products
Low Poo/Cowash: Rio Grande Herb Co Negrita and Amole Deep Treatment Concentrate, Magick Botanicals (MB) Shampoo (diluted)
Rinse out/Leave in: MB with apricot kernel and jojoba oils added
Protein Treatment: MB Conditioner for Thinning Hair, IAgirl's protien treatment
Style: MB Gel mixed with LOTD Aloe Vera Gelly

2b-c, need lots of moisture, likes protein in moderation.

Heating the honey will keep it from lightening your hair?

This sounds good and I have all these things I'm going to give it a try!

    Yeah. From livecurlylivefree.com:

"Honey is a natural humectant that can help restore moisture to dry hair. The antibacterial properties of honey will release low levels of hydrogen peroxide and can lighten the hair, however, so be sure to warm the honey before use—heating it will negate the effects of the peroxide."

Depends on your hair. Mine is on the fine side so using it everyday would be overkill, and I'd be left with greasy hair. Its something I need to use about once a week. My SO has very coarse, dry hair so he uses it everyday and its not making his hair oily.

Since the Tropical Coconut has coconut and honey already in it in minute amounts I feel like its more compatible, but these Suave Natural and VO5 conditioners are all pretty similar chemically, so I don't see why they wouldn't work.

Wow, this sounds pretty amazing. Plus the Suave Naturals conditioners are reasonably priced, so I might have to switch to this for my deep conditioners instead of buying ones that can verge on expensive.

    Thanks very much! :sunny:

I just tried this today, except I used EVOO instead of the coconut oil. I put on a shower cap and left it in for 30 minutes- my hair looks very smoothed out. Thanks for the info!

I'm glad you all like it. Next time I make it, I may add some agave nectar or replace the honey with it. My hair seems to very responsive to agave.
