Heavy duty protein as styling product?

so, here's my issue. I've CO washed only, for about 5 months now and my hair doesn't seem to be any more moisturized or repaired than when I started.

Here are my products:

Suave Naturals co-wash- any scent-except coconut, my hair hates that one.

Conditions w/ Giovanni 50/50;rinse out-or a heavier rinse out like Moisture Maniac.

then use K-Pak reconstructor and barely rinse out.

I plop for 10-15 minutes then mix some more K-pak and water to run over the surface of my 'canopy' hair without disturbing any clumps.

I seem to be able to only kill the frizz with the heavy K-pak because any other type of gel or cream or even a light layer of 50/50 causes super crispy and sticky strings(disgusting). To keep the frizz partially down, I have to do this K-pak routine two or more times per day, otherwise it just puffs up like a blowfish.

Why can I only seem to get a small measure of control over the frizz by using straight K-pak as a styling product?

What am I doing wrong? I envy those who have a routine that actually produces the results they're after. I can't get decent hair ever.

Have you tried a thick rinse out and LI that has a lot of protein? Since your hair seems to need a lot that could really help. Look for ingredients with protein close to the beginning of the list. Also are you doing protein treatments and DTS regularly? I came across this protein treatment that is getting rave reviews. I personally would follow it with a moisture DT too.

I may be wrong since I have never heard of this happening to anyone but I'd start here if I were you.

I've tried thicker rinse out CO as a styler, thinking I needed more moisture, but that produced crispy frizz so in desperation I slapped some straight K-pak on my hair and amazingly that knocked the frizz down a lot, but my hair became a bit too sticky after it dried and I couldn't even get my fingers through the tangles at my nape underneath.

Is there a list somewhere on the boards where I could find a high protein(keratin) conditioner I could try?

I think I'll give that treatment a try, although I don't have the liquid aminos, but powdered ones, I'll mix and let sit for a while to absorb and blend.

    thanks for the suggestion!!

I put high protein conditioner in the google search function at the top of the page and here are the first few threads that came up. Maybe there is some info in them that could help you.
