Black Dress?

Ok...I got a sexy crushed velvet black dress...real slinky! It fits perfect...got some black heels too. My idiot guy friend says the dress looks great and that I need to have my hair "right" to go with it. I said I'm not straightening. Does anyone else have any opinions? I thought big sexy cascading curls were sexy enough. He saw me in the dress with sopping wet hair so it is flat...it will be much bigger and more dramatic when it dries. Also I was thinking maybe a real deep side part to partially cover my eye or something.

Back on Cones,so now my routine is,wash with Deva No-Poo every other day or so. Occasionally use 365 sulfate free, maybe use low sulfate shampoo mixed with conditioner once every two weeks are longer. I condition with Aussie Moist or HEHH. I style with a little GF TN,and finish up with tons of GN Pure Clean Smoothing Cream. No frizz...slippy, happy hair.

That's what I'm saying! I thought if I fluffed it up a little maybe wore a deeper side part than normal so it covered my eye a little to look mysterious...I thought curls were very glamorous.

If he doesn't appreciate your gorgeous curls, maybe he doesn't deserve to go out with you in that dress. Not to be cranky, but I get fed up with men telling women how they should look.

    As the song goes,

Don't change a hair for me
Not if you care for me
    Stay, pretty valentine, stay

I know he's trying to help!lol I mean I did tell him I wanted to change it up a little...be a little more racy, which is why I got the dress. I just happen to think he's wrong!lol The curls I had when I went out in the red top (my avatar pic) I thought they were perfect...and they looked great, the only thing I would do is change the part a little. He's funny...he's like "you need to change your attitude when you wear that dress" meaning walk with more confidence...I'm gonna try!lol I can be a little shy! I could wear it up in a twist or something...I just have a thing and I love to feel it against my back. I know it'll look great though. I also know he wants to see more of the dress....even if I only wear it for him! So he'll like what I tell him!lol

What about a loose side-low pony tail? You dont even need to use a hair tie, just bobby pin it to one side so the curls go over your shoulder, but are pretty loose at the front. Ohh, so hard to explain! Ok, heres a link

Well, you are who you are. If you are a bit shy, you'll develop confidence over time by being accepted and appreciated for who you really are, not by being pushed to be different. If wearing a dress like that is a bold step for you, then good for you. Just *enjoy yourself* in it and try to forget about how you look for awhile. Your hair is lovely. It's fun to experiment with updos and such, and they can really look great with a dressier dress, but cascading curls are gorgeous and sexy, too. Be yourself and enjoy!

I personally think that a slinky black dress calls for big dramatic hair but I am a big hair lover! Even when my hair was fully relaxed, I always rolled it so that it was big. Personally, it's the whole reason I buy fitted dresses...so I can make my hair big as a contrast!

As others have said, confidence is the key. Play with some styles and when you find the one that makes you stare at yourself and say something silly like, "Hello hot stuff!", then you know you've found one!

Also, I have found that when I have noticed a stunning woman at a fancy event, I rarely remember what she was wearing or her hair or makeup. I just remember the way she carried herself or walked...

By the way, your hair is stunning!!

I agree with the above statements. It doesn't matter if your hair is straight or curly if you don't walk into that place owning that room and that dress your hair won't matter. I think you should wear your hair curly. Straight hair doesn't hold the patent for sexiness. I've seen too many curlies straightening their hair for special events and it looks no more sexier than when they had their hair curly. You're going to walk into that room with sexy touchable soft curls and you're going to look fab!

Thanks everybody! The confidence thing I am working on!lol I too think a little sexy slinky dress goes perfect with big dramatic curls would go great. Curls are so versatile, I could do a low pony tail or a twist or wear it out. With some conditioner left in...some AVG and from flipping my head up and down it'll be big and sexy!!lol

Hey, remember when you asked if we were twins? Back when I had a similar avatar?

Now I know we are. You just quoted my favorite song in the world.
