limp fine curls

Been a while since I've been on here. I have really fine 2c (?) hair that gets easily weighed down by products but is horribly frizzy if there is not enough product in it. :crybaby:

I have been using a cream, Curls Rock Amplifier and it gives me good definition but it weighs my hair down a lot so I was wondering if anybody knows of a good mouse I could use that gives good definition. Also I live in NL so my product section is limited.

Please help. I want full defined curls. :sunny:

I'll be watching this thread, because it sounds like we have the same hair. I'm also Irish/Scottish. :love1:

I tried that cream and found it to be pretty sticky. My hair is fine but I prefer gel to mousse.

That being said, Herbal Essences has a few mousses and Trade Secret has quite a few (joico, AG, Paul Mitchell) Not sure where in NL you are, but in NB I have access to all those. Joiwhip is one I'd like to try but it's mail order only for me.

yeah the Curl Amplifier is pretty sticky but I dilute it down with water and it works pretty well except it does weigh down my hair.

I'm coming to the end of my non-CG lifestyle (in fact, today is it--woo hoo!) so I'm pretty excited about it. I actually use Curl Amplifier now as well, and I know what you mean about the weigh-down factor.

As far as getting really nice, clumpy curls goes, I've found that using flax seed gelee and then putting two small pumps of the CA in my hair makes for softer, fuller curls. I started using a sulfate shampoo recently, though, and I feel that has been contributing to a greater frizz factor than usual. So I'm hoping that going CG will give me the pretty clumps I so pine for.

My hair texture is a lot like yours-it is fine and frizzy. I really like L'Oreal's "Out of Bed Weightless Texturizer" paired with a leave-in conditioner. It makes my hair clump nicely like a curl cream, and feels natural. I tried it on a whim and loved it, and have been using it for a little over a month now.

In general, I've found that creams work better than mousses for fine hair, and that diffusing until it is 50% dry sometimes helps to make it less frizzy and more curly. Hope this helps!

Also, I was born in Scotland, but am of Irish descent

On the 2 board Jess suggested just using conditioner to style and I'm liking it. Yesterday was my first day trying it and it was the first day since going CG that my hair wasn't limp or crunchy! Here's a link to the blog that describes it.

My hair is really really fine too so everything weighs it down. But I'm trying either cowashing or shampooing with a non-sulfate shampoo and then scrunching in a tiny bit of co (I'm using Giovanni's Route 66 Volumizing co, but I think any light conditioner would work) mixed with a little gel for hold (seriously, less than dime sized for each). I don't know how your hair reacts to scrunching, but the more I scrunch the better my hair looks. I let it air dry for a while, then wet my hands and re-scrunch, repeat a little while later and my hair gets wavier. Might work for you if your hair is fine too.
The curl love blog also has a video about clipping up your roots to get volume there, which you might want to check out. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm planning to tomorrow.
