Products that increase hair density/thickness?

I'm having a case of the springtime blahs, and lately my hair's been feeling really stringy and thin. Know of any products that work to increase hair density and thickness?

    I found that when I stopped cowashing (after six months) and switched to the natural soap bars for cleansing it tightened curl and increased volume.
    3a (Corkicelli), highlighted, fine, low porosity
    SE PA

    HGs: Anything Sevi; Curly Kinks Satin Roots, Curlycue ReNew and Coil Jam; homemade FSG and okra gel; soap bars; UFD Curly Magic; Botanical Spirits Jellies, CJ Repair Me, Aloe Fix

    Yep ~ I've definitely noticed more volume & better curl formation when I use shampoo bars, but I still CO wash most days. (I found that using the bars daily was beginning to dry me out - probably due to hard water.) But I always keep one on hand for those days when I want / need to have a really good hair day.
    I definitely recommend giving them a try.:thumbup:
    Hair Type: 3A/3B; natural color; mid-back length.
    Shampoo: Shea Moisture Coconut Hibiscus (2 - 3 times/week)
    Fave Rinse-Out Conditioners: HE Hello Hydration; Yes to Blueberries; GVP Conditioning Balm;
    Styling Routine: Squish-scrunch product /conditioner into soaking wet, upside down hair; plop for 10 minutes, air dry. (Diffuser dry front section.)
    Fave Styling Products: KCKT; Tigi Curl Amplifier Creme; Batia & Aleeza gel; Giovanni Sunset Styler; LA Looks Sport Gel.

    I agree with kathymack. I stopped co-washing especially with Suave( it has softeners that make fine hair limp ) and water rinse or wash with castile soap my hair now has more body. I also do a Komaza HoneyComb treatment 2X month which helps a lot!

    I know on the 4a board people are doing Amla treatments that make the hair appear thicker. Here's Fleurtzy posting about how thick her hair has gotten.

    Along the same lines as afrosheenqueen said, you might want to try henna if you don't mind going red or a darker permanent color from what you have now. (And I mean permanent!) I believe Amla is temporary, but it would be a safer choice if you don't want to permanently modify your hair color.

    Oh! I'm not sure how familiar you are with henna, but if you do decide to go that route, make sure it's good quality henna. Henna only comes in red, but you can add indigo to make brown or black.

    Does anyone know about Cassia? I know it adds shine and softness. Would it make the hair thicker too?
    I have 3c hair that I haven't straightened in over 5 years. It's just past shoulder length when dry, and almost waist length when pulled straight.

    Products:
    9/02/08 Went CG
    05/12/09 Still CG. Cowashing with VO5 Lavender Luster. I then condition with Giovanni Smooth as Silk. Styling with VO5 Lavender Luster conditioner with my wide-toothed comb.

    I did Cassia a few times last summer. Results were fine. I get the same results from the natural soap bars without the mess and fuss.

    Cassia was disappointing for me. I expected some real change in my hair but really experienced little to none. Used it for about 5 months, every few weeks.

    I'm glad you brought up this topic, because I have just recently been noticing that my hair seems really thin right now! At least, a lot thinner than usual. It's really strange. I always used to hate that my hair was a thick, huge frizz ball. But just within the past few months, it definitely seems thinner. I've noticed that the circumference (?) of the base of my ponytail is a lot smaller!! Strange! I want my huge frizz ball back! :)

    I have been using Suave Coconut Conditioner to co-wash, though, so it's interesting that that was mentioned. I didn't know that it had softeners! Hmm... I'll have to try something new tonight maybe!
    EXTREMELY thick, medium 3B-3C hair;
    I have yet to find a hair twin ANYWHERE...website or real life :(

    Current routine: Um, I don't feel like updating my siggie every thirty minutes. :) I'm experimenting right now! (loving the overnight plop!)

    There's actually no way to increase your hair's density, as density refers to the number of hairs on your head. Short of using some of those treatments men use for baldness and hoping for the best, there's nothing you can do on that score.

    Often if your hair feels thicker or thinner, it is due to the cuticle being raised. Soap bars do this because of their alkaline nature, giving the illusion that the hair is thicker and "denser." There's nothing wrong with illusion, though -- look at how popular fake boobs are....
