How will a short haircut look for 3a hair?

I'm thinking of getting a really short cut. Similar to the one Fo has on the current cycle of America's Next Top Model (if you watch it). It's just extremely short. Maybe even Natalie Portman short. Currently, my hair is already pretty short, just below my ears and it's still very curly and cute. It doesn't look like a que-tip or fuzzy. But I'm worried it will if I take it any shorter. Every time I go to the salon and try to get that really short cut, I chicken out. Those boyish cuts look great on straight hair, but how will it look once it's curly? Will it straighten out, or not have enough length to be curly? If anyone has had this cut or can give me advice, I'd appreciate it! I really want that edgy, short haircut. I just need some convincing it'll look ok.

My hair is more 3b when it's shorter.

I think that haircut is adorable. Go for it, if you've got fine features. If your hair straightens up, you can spike it. If it's curly, it'll look awesome! And either way, it'll grow out.... Heck - it's spring. Have fun!

There is another post on the 3A thread about short hair. I am thinking about going short again - I feel like my fine/thin hair looks more voluminous when it's shorter. I am going to bring this pic with me when I discuss with my stylist - this was from 2003 before I had any idea about NC.com and I think it looked ok. The photo is a bit blurry and I have redeye but you can kinda tell the length and curl. If I remember I used a round brush on my bangs.

I do have an oval-shaped thin face that I keep reading is good for short haircuts. I agree, I think if it's curly, awesome! If it won't curl, I'll just put product in it to make it more edgy. Thanks for helping with the convincing. :)

I wasn't going for the curly look back then.. and I definitely wasn't CG back then.. I knew nothing about it.
I guess I liked it. It was WAY more easier that what I'm doing now. ;)
I would buy whatever shampoo and conditioner was on sale and never used any product.. okay.. well.. I did use Aussie 24 hr humidity spray to hold it, but that's it.
It was so short that if I did let it go curly, I would have wind up with an afro.. not a style I was looking for. So, I would straighten it with the round brush and dryer. And pray I didn't get caught in the rain. ;)
