hair naturally turning red???

OK so in the summer time my hair usually gets a tint of red to it. We've literally had one week of nice weather up here and now it's crappy again but this morning I noticed my hair has a definite copper tint to it, almost like I what I would expect from hennaing. Does this mean my hair is porus, as I've heard that dark hair turning red can be a sign of that, or does it just mean that my hair may turn really red this summer? I don't mind it so far but if it turns any more "red" it will look orangie and I don't want that! Anyone else ever encountered this? What's the dealio?

3b/c mix; mixture of fine, med. and coarse texture with med-high porosity

Current HG routine: Tresemme Naturals conditioner; AG Fast Food LI; AG Recoil; CJ CIAB = no crunch, lots of body and awesome definition

I think a lot of people have hair that has the propensity to turn red. Mine does, and two of my four children's hair does as well. Well, my daughter was born with bright red hair that has gotten a little darker over time, but still brightens in the sunlight. I think it's just heredity. My other two children have black hair that doesn't turn red at all whatsoever. It can look lighter if it is on the dry side, though. When it's well moisturized (or wet, or oily) it can appear darker as well. Maybe that's it.

Hey i was born with bright red hair that has darkened over time. Still red, just not as red. B4 going CG i was trying that John Freida Red stuff along with the glaze. I suspect my ends are porous from the flat iron because even though i have stopped using the glaze, my ends looks more bright than my whole head. I can only assume it's because of the red glaze and the reason why the top of my head isnt that same shade is because i'm technically on the low porousity side. It could be that your hair is porous and it still kept that color... but i have no clue. that's just what i think.
para los gustos se hicieron los colores

i has no hair type? (medium, f-iii), normal porosity, LOW elasticity.

ALL hair colors have red in them. Red is just the *last* color to fade when you bleach hair. That's why you get what I call "The Great Pumpkin" look when dark haired people don't bleach their hair properly. It's very orange-y or reddish in color.

Many darker haired people get a tinge of this from sun exposure or specific styling products.

I heard hot water could be a reason for hair color change. Cold water would be best at closing cuticle preventing the sun to damage it and change the color.

And what's wrong with red or orange hair???? :toothy2::toothy2::toothy2:

I'm definitely a "curly" 2c. Sometimes curly and sometimes just wavy upper layer with a ringlety under layer. My hair has been thick and coarse since birth. Strawberry blonde in color that can and does change depending on the type and amount of light.

All in all, I'm happy with my hair type but almost for sure think yours is prettier. :)

The red tint is normal, and I don't think it's necessarily from damage...Unless it was from bleaching or something!

My hair pulls more copper/gold if it's from the sun.

However, I have some dye fading from my hair and it's different colors in different spots. The places I dyed dark brown a lot are fading more of the coppery-gold. I have roughly 2-3 inches from my roots that weren't dyed so many times with dark brown, but were dyed with purple box dyes. That area has a definite cherry red tinge to it now that the dark colors have faded. It's making growing out dye difficult :(

Nothing to do with porosity or damage. Literally everyone (well okay, not everyone, but A LOT of people) get reddish tints to their hair during the summer. The sun brings it out, no biggie. Your hair isn't going to magically turn orange or anything.
