confusion.. when to use what?

hi there, hope someone can help minimize my confusion. so without spending a lot of money i went out and bought the least expensive things i've seen around the boards here.... acv, no cone conditioners, gel, dt, etc.

now i've been co washing for a few days now, but am confused. should i have started out using everything like the acv, the dt and doing the co wash and rinse out conditioner? or should i rotate when i use the dt and the acv rinse.

i dont know if doing it all at once is over kill or not.

    Welcome :)

Have you read this before? If not, I think it may answer some of your questions. It was written by one of members, Laura Lee:

There's a debate about how often we can use ACV. It ranges from once a week to once a month. You may not even need to do it at all. It closes the cuticle, which is good for porous curlies.

DTs can be done on an as-needed basis as well. Some don't do them at all, some do them regularly once a week. It depends on your hair and what you need.

It's good to do a last sulfate wash and then start with a light conditioner for co-washing, a heavier one for a rinse-out, and then a clear gel or other product for a styler. Once your hair adjusts and you are better able to judge what your hair likes and needs, you can branch out to other products. It is hard in the beginning, especially because there are a lot of great product reviews here, but this method has worked out great for a lot of us.

    Good luck!

hi, thanks for the link, very informative. i already started no-pooing... unfortunatly i'll have to restart because my leave in had a cone in it :-(. anyway, i'll just lay off the acv and the dt until i feel i might need a little more than the normal routine.
