Loading problems

I think I've figured out the cause of my computer sounding like it's a jet engine warming for takeoff & the time it takes for pages to load when I come here; those Beauty Fix ads for starters!

They're flash-driven or something, right? And this needs a lot of memory to view? Can I block them at all from loading?

It's extremely frustrating when I can't get anywhere because my computer is frozen due to these ads loading.
