Chasteberries.....Interesting

LotsawavesLotsawaves Posts: 8,660Registered Users
I've been thru hell & back with my oldest daughter & I've thought it had to do with her hormones. Well, yesterday I spent the day with both of my daughters. My oldest was so calm & we actually were getting along. My youngest daughter had hives & was very *****y. She even admitted to being very short with everyone. My oldest daughter told her that she had read that chasteberries helped to regulate the hormones & she has a chaste tree in her backyard. She found a recipe online & has been taking it. She said she feels like a new woman. She gave some of this tonic to my youngest daughter & I requested some for myself.

Recipe.....

Put the berries in a blender to break them up a bit.

Put them into a jar with vodka & store in a dark place for a month.

Strain thru a cheesecloth & take 3 droppers full every day.

She said this has made her periods regular, which they never have been & she said it is also good for women going thru menopause.

She also said it takes a month for it to regulate your hormones, but it is really worth it.

Vodka always helps my state of mind. ;)

But seriously, I have never heard of chasteberries. I did a search and got tons of hits.

Looks very promising for PMS, period regulation and HRT. Seems it's even being added to fat burners to help with moodiness.

Yea, I have to admit the vodka sounded promising to me, also. :toothy8:

I wonder if I could plant this tree on my patio.

It is easier just buying vitex (chaste berries) capsules. It helps a bit.

Whadyall mean, you've never heard of chasteberries! Geez! I've only posted about it a zillion times (well maybe three) :) You have me on IGNORE, don't you?

I've made tea from dried chasteberries and I'm made tea from bags that have chasteberry in them. I have the tincture as well. It's recommended for breast tenderness and PCOS. Shouldn't be taken if you are pregnant.

It doesn't do a whole lot for me. I'm taking almost 1000 mg a day right now. It's gives me an instant headache and stomach upset.

It's hard to find chasteberry or vitex capsules locally. I'm hoping it becomes more available. If your daughter has nice organic chasteberries, she could probably dry them and sell them.

I must not have seen your thread snarls. :crybaby:

It's not often I have time to look at anything other than hair threads. I'm being totally lazy today and have been surfing most of it. :)

I'm sorry, I never saw your posts. I actually would probably try her tincture instead of the pills. Vodka. Can't be a bad thing.

Now - if they only had vodka capsules :bounce:

Maybe we could invent the Chast-tini. 2 parts Vodka, 1 part Chasteberry......

Night sweats are horrible. Fortunately, I only had a few. You definitely deserve a double & it's on me.

The tincture sounds interesting. I'll have to see if there's a local source for ordering the berries. I'm willing to try things to help with the hormones changing.
