Lost my virginity to MAC! (yoohoo ROU!)

Yes, I've gone over to the Dark side!

I had my first makeover and experience with MAC cosmetics yesterday! :blob3:

I got a complimentary makeover with the sweetest girl. She even insisted that I wear the makeup and think about it before buying. No pressure at all.

She ended up choosing colors similar to the ones I already have, so I can hopefully recreate the look. I don't have the eyeliner though (only have pencils). I already have some brushes like the ones she used (LORAC brush for brow makeup, some great paint brushes from Michael's that rou recommended).

She used a brown shadow to fill my brows, worked well. I almost bought that, might go back.

ETA: I uploaded 2 in my MISC fotki album. Same PW.

Hey rou, do you have a recommendation for a good sub for MAC brush # 224? She used it for blending.

I use a Paula's Choice brush for blending. I think it's a little fluffier than the 224, but it was cheap and works wonderfully.

    took you long enough, sweetie!!!!

    and you look MAH-velous!

i don't use my 224 brush as much as when i first got it about 10 years ago. i prefer something less fluffy for better placement of colour.

Thanks mystery and rou! :) :notworthy:

I was thinking of using the brush more for blending, since I have the Maxine's mops (2 sizes rou recommended) to apply color. That's what she mostly used if for, and some application too. But I never get a good blend with the MM brush, thought this type would be better.

Do you think I could find something like it at a craft store? :D
I found a little brush in my old stash that might suffice for blending. It might be too soft for precise application though. But that's ok. I haven't tried it yet.

I'm still thinking about the Espresso shadow for the brows (and eyelids!). Now, where was that free MAC shipping code or discount?! :toothy9: I found out we do have a local MAC counter now at our Macy's. :)

don't worry about missing it - there's a free shipping code about once a month or so.

you should be able to find a pencil brush at an art supply store more than a craft store.

I tried the brush I had for blending today, not bad. I'll pick up something else if I see it someday. :)

Good to hear the Espresso works well for your brows too, mystery. :)

Mary Kay makes an Espresso shadow for much less. I wonder if it's similar (I know the colors are made at the same place in Italy).

Milani shadows are good duplicates for MAC.
