Notice the shrinkage when I wear my hair curly. This is the first time I've straightened my hair in 14 months and I did not realized that it had been growing back like this. I only plan to straighten/apply heat maybe 3 or 4 times a year (if that), I just love learning about my hair.

Here is what I did:

1) Washed my scalp with my shampoo mix (it's 2 oz Dr. Bronners Castile Soap in Almond + 2 oz my oil mix (Olive Oil, Avocado Oil & Macademia Nut Oil mixed together) + 12 oz of water mixed in an applicator bottle and shaken up)...I sometimes use Cream of Nature too
2) Conditioned my hair with Pantene Relaxed & Natural Conditioner
3) Detangled my hair in the shower with conditioner in it
4) Rinsed my hair
5) Applied KBB Hair Milk & Qhemets Amla & Olive cream, braided it up and let it air dry
6) Once completely dried, straightened hair with Mizani Thermasmooth System http://www.mizani-usa.com/default.aspx?m=44&rid=300 . Since I don't plan on straightening much, for the price, I think it's worth it because it will probably last me a year if not more. BUT this time I didn't use the shampoo & conditioner. I just straightened my hair with the Thermasmooth Smooth Guard Smoothing Serum (just one squirt per piece of hair to flat iron) and the Thermasmooth Shine Extend Anti-Humidity Spritz (just 1 or 2 squirts per piece of hair to flat iron). What I did was,for each section of hair I applied the smoothing serum, ran the flat iron over it, then applied the anti-humidity spritz and ran the flat iron over it again.
7) Once I was finished flat ironing my entire head, I applied a pea size of Mizani Spradiance High Gloss Serum http://www.mizani-usa.com/default.aspx?m=11&p=5124&rid=300

I flat ironed my hair with the Sally Beauty Supply GVP CHI Ceramic Flat Iron http://www.sallybeauty.com/gvp-flat-iron/SBS-264849,default,pd.html.

My hair has never been this straight....even when I leave a beauty salon. My hair does not feel greasy, it feels so light and airy. It's great. Knowing how my hair handles humidity, the shower and just sweat in general, we'll see how long this style holds up. I really don't plan on keeping it straight for more than 2 or 3 days I just straightened to see how long it actually was and to clip my ends.

All props go to Wes for the tips on the Mizani products (SO MUCH better than the Chi Heat Protector) http://www.honeybrownsugar.com/2008/12/throwback-6-stick-straight-hair.html

I'll keep you posted on how my hair reverts back.

Playing with my hair is a hobby. Fluffy, fine natural 4a. Goal= Healthy, beautiful hair that retains its length.

Thank you so much ladies! You know how you wonder during your transition how your hair will come out if you try to straighten it with no relaxer...well I wondered and am so glad I at least satisfied that curiosity.

I won't be doing this too often...just am glad to have beautiful, healthy hair back. Not to mention glad to know there is actually growth in all that shrinkage. :blob3:
