Central NY - Help! I need a curly-friendly cut!

I got my hair cut last year by someone, and it was pretty much destroyed. The top was short, the bottom was long, and the whole thing was thinned out to the hilt, which made my hair feel straggly, damaged and fried. The worst part was that I couldn't find another stylist to fix it! I was told that it wasn't that bad--the shortest layer was at my ears, and the longest was two inches below my collarbone, and I thought it was that bad--and that I was contradictory in my request--I wanted my hair to look tame, but I didn't want to thin it out, which didn't make sense to the stylist. I have photos of my own hair in the cut I wanted, so I couldn't figure out why I wasn't getting what I was looking for.
So... fast forward six months, after I've let it grow, and did my own version of damage control--whacking off three inches from the bottom to bring the wildly disproportionate layers back into some agreement with each other--and now I'm thinking I should probably get it cut and shaped again. But I need to find a good stylist, and I've scoured through the listings in Central New York and I can't find anybody close. Are there any curlies around in the area to recommend somebody? Someone who won't destroy my hair again? I've been wearing it in a ponytail for the last half a year, and it'd be nice to not have to.

Do you know of any good curly-friendly stylists in any of those places?
Poo- giovanni 50/50, Co-wash- VO5 Pomegranate Strengthening, Styling-??? Can't quite figure that out, tips appreciated! Trying Jessicurl soon!
I second the recommendation of Amy at Belleza in Albany, but first I recommend checking the salon reviews and the DevaConcepts website http://www.devaconcepts.com/ again. People are adding reviews, and Deva has added new stylists/salons since you posted your query.
