Home Remedies to fade hair that was dyed too dark?

CurlzillaCurlzilla Posts: 59Registered Users
Hi I recently dyed my hair with RC color. I am very pleased by how my hair felt afterwards. Doesn't feel damaged at all. Unfortunately it came out a few shades too dark brown. It just seemed to grab the color fast! Does anyone have any ideas on how to maybe fade the color a bit which wouldn't be too damaging? Has anyone colored their hair dark brown with RC color and had it fade a bit?

I was told by a stylist that Prell will do the trick. Never tried it, though.

This is a way late answer, but using dish soap (like Dawn) will lighten the color. Of course, you'll want to do a DT after using the dish soap because it will strip moisture out.
    cowash: Tresemme Naturals
    rinse out: Garnier Triple Nutrition
Leave in: Suave naturals, whichever scent I'm into at the moment
gel: Garnier Fructis or LA Looks

Prell is good for a lot of things including removing hard water stains from glass shower doors. Dish soap is another one. Dandruff shampoos may also work for you.

Lemon juice might work for you. Raw honey is another one. Both need sunshine to do their thing, tho. Sulfate shampoo of any kind will also strip some of the color off your hair.

I've never tried it, but I've been told that you can put a rinse of hydrogen peroxide - brown bottle pour on your cuts kind - in your hair and let that dry. 1 part peroxide to 4 parts water.
