Help with finding a curly stylist

I am trying to find a new styist who "specializes" in curly hair. Any specific questions I should ask? Should I ask about products? I want to keep with the CG regime (i'm real newbie)...right now I am co-washing only, no poo...how do I word that and not sound like an idiot? What should I look for, to stear away from that particular salon, like curly "un-friendly" products...

I have a good friend who has a child with real curly hair....I got a good recommendation from her. My friend is fair skinned red head, and her husband is African American...so child has "mixed ethnicity" and has always been a challenge for her. I'm trying to turn her on the this website.
The Plan:
Poo-less: Since March 09....If need be, I might use Burt's Bee baby shampoo/wash, but once every 2 weeks only
Co-Wash: Suave Naturals Coconut daily (use as leave-in too)
Gel: Aveda Confixor or homemade FSG/aloe
Other stuff: Aveda Curl Control, Jessicurl Confident Coils, and Jessicurl weekly deep conditioner treatment

Have you checked on here under CurlSalons? I'm relatively new to this site too and that is where I found my new stylist; she is wonderful! But before I found this site, if I saw someone with curly hair that had a great cut, I'd just ask them where they went. Don't be afraid to ask questions when you call a salon. See if you can go in for a consultation before actually doing anything. I know what it's like to have a really bad haircut, so I've learned to do my homework.

Thanks for the relply....I've checked....I think I live in no-mans land. We don't have anyone listed as a CG salon. I've talked with several stylists and they look at me crazy when I even ask if they know what co-washing is. Around here the "look" is straight as a board...which is nearing impossible with the humidity (Mississippi).
