ok well im not CG but since everyone is oohing nd aahing about it on the message boards :love8: im wondering how does this really work? and has it worked for you? I purchased the Lorainne Massey book but it doesnt necessarily tell you brands of shampoo that are light and ok to use on your hair every now and then. I would really love to explore being CG so if you have any tips or good shampoo's please leave a comment.

well, i dont use shampoo at all, i co-wash (conditioner wash)
some that ive found that r really good and pretty cheap are
    garnier fructis hydra curls
    herbal essences totally twisted
    herbal essences hello hydration
    garnier fructis sleek and shine

because condish doesnt wash out all the gunk, you need to get rid of the gunk more often if your hair is oily.
i for instance, use a clarifier every other week and co-wash every three days

    the cg method is amazing
it made my curls so much bouncier and I use less products, i use to have to use all kinds of gels and mousses for it to look alright. now all i use is the conditioner, moisturizer, leavein (sometimes) and a clarifier and my curls are bouncy, shiny and soft. its made it so much easier and quicker to style

the only problem with it is that it has made my hair much harder to straighten

if you decide you still want to use more product than that, make sure you use natural products such as natural oils to get rid of the frizz or styling creams from the organix line (btw, organix cocunut weightless mousse is amazing)

it might also look worse for the first week or so, but afte that, you should begin to see dramatic improvements.

    good luck
    ...wow i wrote alot.

libracurls10 thanks so much for the help! and ur writing a lot is really appreciated. i think i might be convinced to go CG just for a while but i REALLY love shampoo but i hate using so much products and i really want better definiton and bouncier softer curls. i have 3c hair and to get definition i have to pile on products which makes my hair hard and they dont bounce they just stay in place. which i hate :tongue6: and then it doesnt make it to day 2 hair which really sucks :confused1: so i guess its better to try!

and for kayemmkay159 thanks so much. i guess if its only been 2 days and its beautiful i should definatley try it. and my fingers are crossed!

If you want to go CG, you have to be careful to avoid silicones in your products. Also you can purchase sulfate-free shampoos! (Sulfates are the drying ingredients.) There's a lot about that in the last link in my signature. I'm another CG convert! You might have to work at it a bit, but your hair will thanks you lots. :)

i have 3b/3cish curls and i know what u mean about piling on products.
the trick is to find products with super hold but dont make your hair crunchy.
youll find that once ou go cg, the less harsh the hold needs to be because your curls will define themselves better on their own.
two products that combined work amazing for that effect (defined but bouncy) are aloe vera gel and organiz coconut weightless mousse
