DC/VA/MD Curly GATHERING Saturday, June 10 2006

Chri70Chri70 Registered Users Posts: 34
All right, I'll do it! It's definitely time to meet again.
Please vote for the time and place of our next gathering.

When to meet? (pick multiple dates if available)
1. Saturday, June 10 (afternoon)
2. Sunday, June 11 (afternoon)
3. Monday, June 12 (evening)
4. Tuesday, June 13 (evening)

Where to meet?
1. Cosi
2. Teaism
3. Cafe Asia
4. Other (bar, restaurant)

The first three have multiple locations, so we'll pick one depending on the date and time of the gathering. If you have other suggestions for meeting places, please keep in mind that they should be metro-accessible and easy on the pocket.

Thanks for planning this. It'll be my first curly gathering.

Saturday, June 10 & Sunday, June 11 work for me.
Nearly natural - 20 months since last texturizer. Mostly 3C with 3A canopy and a bit of 4A at the crown.

Any of those days will be fine for me.

I have another suggestion for a place.

It's Oodles of Noodles on L street (I think it's 19th and L). It is definitely metro accessible. They have vegetarian, fish, and meat dishes, and the prices are very reasonable - I think the most expensive dishes are under $15.

I like Cosi, too. I haven't heard of the other places, but I'm fine with wherever. I'm just excited to be coming "home"!!!! :D

June 10th or 11th work for me. I don't care where we decide to meet, as long as it's metro-accessible.

    Ladies,
OK, we're on for Saturday, June 10, say... 2pm.
Let's meet at Teaism - Penn Quarter, 400 8th Street NW. It's affordable, close to metro (Archives/Navy Memorial and Metro Center), and it's never too loud or extremely crowded, so we're guaranteed to get a table. :D

Also, Michelle indicated we might get some PhytoSpecific product samples for the gathering; if you're coming, please let me know so that I can give Michelle an idea of how many samples to send. 8)

Sounds like fun. I'll make plans to be there, too.

Do you have walking directions from either of the Metro stations to Teaism? I'm rarely in DC and it would be helpful to know "how to get there".

When you get off at Archives/Navy Memorial station, you should see it as soon as you get off. Well, that's what the Teaism website says. The exit it pretty much right near the restaurant, so you shouldn't have any problems. :)

Look forward to seeing you all!

Yeah!! I leave on Tuesday night and arrive Wednesday!

Is it bad that my most exciting thing about arriving is visiting the beauty supply store on Rhode Island Avenue in the Safeway complex? I still haven't been able to find a leave-in conditioner here, and I think my hair needs it since I go so long between washes. I also need to get my eyebrows arched - do you know of any place that threads there?

I know exactly what BSS you're talking about. My SO's father lives about five minutes from there. :) Oh, and I don't know any places that thread. I do my own brows. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

    See ya Saturday! :D

    Ladies,

FYI--after the initial email exchange, I haven't heard back from Michelle, so chances are there will be no product samples at the gathering.
Feel free to bring products you'd like to swap, though.

Look fwd to see all of you Saturday!

I know this is super late, but I wanted to say "thanks" for organizing the curly gathering! I made a commitment to myself not to post to NC.com for the duration of my vacation, cause I can't just post once...

It was nice to meet you ladies, and you all have beautiful curls!
