Problems with Donna Marie Products

So, I just got my sample pack of Donna Marie products three days ago. The first day I tried the Coco Curly Butter with some Lock and Twist on top and had some frizz. So, today I wanted to pin point what was causing the frizz and used the CoCo Curly Butter only and my hair had a horrible halo of frizz!!!! It was so back I actually had to rewash my hair.

As for the lock and twist it leaves my hair lip and does not tighten my curls at all like others say. In fact my hair has no curl and only waves after using it. Plus the only way I got the waves was by using gel on top of the lock and twist.

I guess my question is am I doing something wrong with these products or are they just not right for my hair? Has any one else had these problems with Donna Marie products before?

I had a terrible time with frizz with the CCB and the L&T products. I was never able to use L&T, but I finally figured out how to use the CCB.

I ordered the Aloe & Honey Jelly and had tremendous success. I use the DM Detangler, followed by the Aloe & Honey Jelly. I finger the Jelly through and then use a Denman brush to ensure it is evenly distributed ... Of note, prior to the weather becoming milder, I had just been scrunch in the Jelly ....

After plopping with a Curlease towel, I scrunch in about 2 fingers worth of CCB with my head tipped over and then another 2 fingers with it straight up. I scrunch in some gel and diffuse. It works really well for me this way. I don't have any frizz. I used the DM Coco&Hemp butter to scrunch out the crunch .... my hair still feels soft, but no frizz, lots of volume and well defined curls.

Type: 3a fine & dense, with normal porosity, terrible product junkie
ROUTINE: LI, enhancer, gel, plop with Curlease towel, serum product (either CIAB or Gel-les'c), clip & diffuse.
Too many favourite products to list ... I finally have my routine that works and alot of products to choose from. My product stash is huge, but well loved !!!

Thanks FrizzBgone! I was thinking about the Aloe and Honey Jelly but I am kind of on the fence about it since I didn't have luck with the other DM products. I am terrified to put the CCB back in my hair because it was that bad! lol But after reading everything on here it seems my inner pj is coming out so I might break down and just get some.

I also just bought some [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Kinky-Curly-Curling-Custard-p-778.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=kinkycurly-curling-custard]kccc[/buylink] (after the panic from others I figured it has to be good ). Do you think maybe if I used that with the CCB it would cut the frizz? My hair did feel really soft with the DM products but the frizz was the deal breaker.

hi, how did you apply the ccb? i would like to know because if you had a bad experience it could be different it you apply it a different way. even if you look at what shampoo yous used or condish before styling your hair might be a factor.

I never had success with L&T, it made my hair too greasy and stringy. CCB I do like, though. The first time I used it alone because I though it was supposed to have some hold to it. Not the case. My hair started to swell and while the curls were tight, they were getting undefined/frizzy. I found I need to use it with [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Kinky-Curly-Curling-Custard-p-778.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=kinkycurly-curling-custard]KCCC[/buylink] or another gel to get the hold and the curl enhancement at the same time.

I use the L & T and the CCB both. There is a learning curve with them. I find that L & T works great when your conditioner isn't full of oils. The L & T has alot of oils in it and if your conditioner does also your hair tends to get limp and greasy. The CCB works great with oiler conditioners. I use no leave in or gel with either one. I haven't figured out the Aloe & Honey jelly yet!!! I'm still experimenting with it.

Loving natural products. Some of my favorites are:
MHC Scalp Cleanser, Donna Marie Miracurl Gelly, Robert Craig Conditionerloveshower.gif

My hair was the same way with the CCB ... felt great, but looked TERRIBLE!! I've never used it with [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Kinky-Curly-Curling-Custard-p-778.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=kinkycurly-curling-custard]KCCC[/buylink] ... I'll let Elissad answer that one !!

Although I've never tried the Aloe & Honey Jelly any other way, I don't know if the CCB actually makes much of a difference. It might work just as well as the Jelly and the regular gel. I was happy to find a use of the CCB ... I hate wasting products !!

Right now I am using Suave Natural Conditioner and I am a no poo girl. I guess I will have to check and see how much oil is in the Suave because limp/greasy hair was my main problem with the L & T. Maybe I will have to try a different condish.

Once the [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Kinky-Curly-Curling-Custard-p-778.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=kinkycurly-curling-custard]kccc[/buylink] gets here I might give the CCB a try with that and see how it goes. I didn't have much success when I used it with my gel but maybe it was that combo that didn't work out.

Thanks for all the help. I won't give up yet!
