How do you get this perfect line in the crease?

From "the Art of Makeup," but the book doesn't say what sort of pencil to use, how to apply, or even the exact shadow used. Possibly KA's own, but idk if he did this shot before he creates his own MU line.

Sorry so small...

i think a pencil brush would work for that.

    something like this one:

I use a brush Trish McEvoy #29 tapered blending brush) and shadow, not a pencil. The photo orientation is how I hold it, just gently push into the crease. I'm not familiar with this vendor, just posting for the description:

It's mistake proof even for me.

I wouldn't use a pencil in the crease. The blending required to smooth it out would cause too much wear-n-tear on the delicate eyelid. I'd just use a brush and powder shadow, like the ones already recommended. Blend well, and use lighter shadows on the lid and brow to create the contrast you're looking for.

I think I found a way. I used Mac fluidline in Blacktrac, dabbed a bit into the outer corner of my eyes with a small brush then blended it inward with a crease brush. I need to practice, but I did get a precise line.
