I'd have to say yes, not only do the medications usually used to treat depression frequently have hair loss as a side effect, but changes in hormones, physiology etc caused by depression may cause hair loss.

There is also a condition called Telogen Effluvium which is hair loss due to lack of eating, hence a lack of nutrients and calories.

I'd say stress would have a similar effect on hair / hair loss as depression.

I'm not exactly sure what other effects depression and stress have on hair, but I'm sure they would have some sort of effect as they both tend to expend certain nutrients, that play a role in the health of our hair.

Yes! Stress and depression alone can cause hair loss, dryness, or oiliness. I suffer from anxiety and depression and when I am having a flare up that lasts longer than a week my hair shows!
