Started by one of our own curlies here ttripleblonde, she hasn't posted in a very long time but her recipes are there for everyone to try. There are some neat DT's, rinses and leave ins.

I LOVE this, so simple and so effective! I used it on my little girls hair and mine with excellent results!!!

Lavender Water Hair Spray - NEW!
The benefits of lavender essential oil in hair care are many -- it can help to disinfect your scalp and skin and it can be very effective on lice and lice eggs or nits. In addition, the scent of lavender has been shown to help reduce headaches, depression, anxiety and emotional stress.

    Combine:

    1 cup purified water
    1/2 tablespoon curl-friendly conditioner
    5 drops lavender essential oil

Combine in an 8 oz. spray bottle. Spray lightly on hair to refresh throughout the day. Shake well before each use.

A couple of these were posted on the 4's Forum by shawnette /home/leaving?target=http%3A%2F%2Fmixology101.ning.com%2Fprofiles%2Fblog%2Flist%3Fuser%3D15tbuuisyqfnv" class="Popup

    Shea's Gelly (Mid/Lightweight curl custard)

3oz Aloe gel (jelly, not liquid)
    3oz Flax Seed gel (thick)
    2oz Shea butter
    2tsp Agave Nectar

Mix Aloe and flax. Melt the shea and fold into mix. Stir in Agave nectar.

(If shea is too heavy for your hair type, you can substitute another oil. I've used jojoba & coconut. You can also use honey or glycerin instead of Agave. Agave is less sticky.)

    Wet Set Pudding

    1T glycerin
    ¼ c avg
    1 tbsp coconut oil

    Shae's Leave-in

    3oz Suave Naturals Coconut Conditioner
    2oz coconut Oil
    1oz Vitamin E Oil
5oz Coconut Milk (1 small can)
    32oz Bottle (Empty)
    empty spray bottle.

Mix the oils and conditioner in a small bowl until well blended. Stir in the coconut milk. Pour everything into an empty 32oz bottle and fill with water. Shake well and refrigerate. Makes 32oz concentrated leave in. To use, just put some into an empty spray bottle and dilute with water (You can use it without diluting, but it's a bit heavy). I keep the spray bottle in my bathroom but I'm not sure how long it actually stays "good" because I refill every 3 days or so. (We use it a lot, lol.) If I haven't used the base up within 3 weeks, I usually toss it and make a fresh batch.

Just a minor correction. The 1st recipe is not a spritz. It's an alternative (cheap) to [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Kinky-Curly-Curling-Custard-p-778.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=kinkycurly-curling-custard]KCCC[/buylink].

I wanted to bump this thread because I just got done mixing and using 2 of these recipes and for the first time I see minimal frizz right out of the shower. Just wanted to say thanks to those of you putting these recipes out there for us newbs.

I did these with a few substitutions:

Lavender Spritz. (used right after rinse out)

1 cup purified water (used tap water)
    1/2 tablespoon curl-friendly conditioner
5 drops lavender essential oil (5 might be too much)

Combine in an 8 oz. spray bottle. Spray lightly on hair to refresh throughout the day. Shake well before each use.

    Spiral Spritz

3oz Aloe gel (jelly, not liquid)
3oz Flax Seed gel (thick) (used Aussie, didn't have flax gel)
2oz Shea butter (used coconut oil)
    2tsp Agave Nectar (used honey)

Mix Aloe and flax. Melt the shea and fold into mix. Stir in Agave nectar.

(If shea is too heavy for your hair type, you can substitute another oil. I've used jojoba & coconut. You can also use honey or glycerin instead of Agave. Agave is less sticky.)

Ladies, when doing any of the natural hair recipes...Please, do not forget to add a preservative. The one that I always use is Grape Seed Extract (not Grape Seed Oil). Grape Seed Extract is the all-in-one of preservatives. It is an anti microbial, an anti fungal, an anti bacterial, and an anti viral.
Especially if you use flax seed a/o aloe vera gel...a lot of natural products will start to grow "bad" things in a few days. This will help keep your products safer and longer.

Thanks for the links=).I didn't know that vitamin e was like an oil that can be used for hot oil treatments.

Would vitamin e oil leave a residue on the hair...?

Since one of the recipes calls for coconut milk, can I use cream of coconut instead? Or is that a no no:dontknow:

Shawnette, I just want to say Oh My Goodness!!! Your recipe for "Shae's Pudding-[buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Miss-Jessies-Curly-Pudding-p-578.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=miss-jessies-curly-pudding]Curly Pudding[/buylink] is the bomb! I never bought [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Miss-Jessies-Curly-Pudding-p-578.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=miss-jessies-curly-pudding]curly pudding[/buylink] before and I never will after using this recipe.

My hair has been really dry and looking like "a six year old that has been playing outside all day", if you know what I mean. I put it on dry hair today because I didn't have time to wet it before I left the house, but the curls are defined now and no halo frizz that has been hunting me for a couple of months now.

    Thanks a zillion again.
