Damaged Hair..?

Well, for over a year I've been straightening my hair every time I came out of the shower, and I think I've damaged my hair greatly. ): I never let my hair have a rest, I didn't use any products to protect my hair, but I did use a Ceramic Straightener.. Dunno if that really matters or not.
it's only been recently that i've been accepting my curly hair, and I've noticed that it's not really as.. curly as it used to.

Can someone help me?
Hair Type: 2b/2c (:

Mine wasn't damaged, but it was very very dry. I started the CG method, and my hair is really looking so much better. So, I think moisture was the key for me. Are you still using shampoo? I was sceptical about quitting the shampoo, but I'm ever so glad I did. Regardless, get some moisture into your hair, and I bet it will get better. It may take some time.

Yes, it does look very, very dry.
I was looking into the CG method a little while ago for the first time because I had NO idea what it was until a little while ago.. and I did hear that I should stop using shampoo.
Quitting just seems so odd to me though because it's been part of my shower routine for so many years.
I think I'll give it a try though.

Thanks curry curls for the advice. (:

Sure. Yeah, it seemed odd to me as well. I used to shampoo every day growing up. Good luck.

If you need moisture, and it sounds like you do, try doing some deep conditioning. When I first went CG and stopped straightening my hair, it was dry and damaged.

I use Jessie Curl's Weekly Deep Treatment once a week RELIGIOUSLY. When I first started I did them 3x a week. Just putting your current conditioner, maybe with some jojoba oil mixed in, in your hair with a shower cap on and wrapping a hot towel around it until it cools and repeating 2 or 3 times will help tremendously.

Hey girl. i feel like i am in the same predicament as you are! Well, i didnt straighten my hair while it was wet and always used a heat protector... but i dont think it really did much. But yea, my hair definitely does not curl the way it used to, and when i do decide to curl it, the top is all frizzy and the tips are pretty much pin straight cause of all the previous straightening. now when i straighten, i am more caution of not puttin extra heat at the roots- just what i need to get it straight, in stead of going over and over it with the flat iron. i'm working on growing out my hair so i can rid of the bottom tips that drive me crazy because literally, they cant hold a curl! and thats just CRAZY for my hair! I'm gonna try CG soon- i got the DevaCurl try me bag coming in the mail and i hear that this should partially help my problem along with a whole lotta TLC! I also did not (still dont 100% get) the whole CG thing which is why i got the kit to hopefully make it easier!! Plus i get the whole set for like 20 bucks, and if soemthing doesnt know, i would know from the beginning instead of buy and testing random things till i find something that works.

    good luck!

If your hair is really damaged, you should look into getting a haircut. If you can't bear to part with a lot of length, at least get a trim. Then start nursing your hair back to health with deep treatments and putting away the heat styling tools. If you really want to heat style, use a heat protectant.
