Argh! Straight clumps

Hello, my fellow wavies! I was wondering if any of you have suggestions for avoiding "straight clumps." You know, where you've got some fantastic clumping and waving going on, and then there are just a couple of very visible clumps that go stick straight and suddenly your hair looks "messy" rather than "wavy."

The thing I've found that improves those straight pieces the most is intense scrunching - until there's no squishy sound left. Plopping may help too. If all else fails a pincurl or two should eliminate them.

I tend to get this going on too, and if i fiddle around too much putting it up/ making it look nice for work i tend to pull the curl out :(

thanks whatsercurl.. if intense scrunching makes my hair look like yours .. i'll be in heaven. hehe :)

Yes, I get them too, sometimes. Whatsercurl's suggestions are great; diffusing helps with mine sometimes, too, if you use the "pixiecurl" method.

    Good luck!

I don't have straight clumps, but I have some random much looser wave clumps, which is about as bad and looks really weird. If I find one forming, I'll wet it, wrap it around my finger and or scrunch it the way whatsercurl suggested. There's not much else I've found that I can do about it.

Ditto. Some days are worse than others depending on WHO KNOWS what?! :p I get them less in the Summer of course a little humidity certainly helps those pesky pieces.

When my hair is properly moisturized, I don't have this issue as much. I'm a scruncher/pixie curler. :D If I get a funky piece, I'll pin-curl sometimes, but I mostly just try not to obsess. ;)
