Newbie-Twist out question

Hello ladies,

I've been lurking for a while now and I finally mustered up enough courage to actually post! Ok so here is my question; how do I preserve a twist for more than one day? Whenever I do a twist out it looks great the first day but once I sleep on it and wake up in the morning it is all over the place. Some parts matted to my head and others just sticking out all over the place so I end up either re-washing or slapping on a headband.

Are you sleeping with a satin scarf on? If yes and you still find that your twists do not look as good the following day, then try retwisting at night before going to bed. That'll keep the shape of the twists relatively intact and help you get more wear out of your style.

    Thanks Fleurzty,

I didn't see this reply until this morning but last night I pinned my my twist out back with bobby pins and slept with a satin bonnet and it came out ok, so I guess the secret is securing the twist out in some way. Thanks again.

if you want to keep it for a while i suggest you do it on freshly washed or co-washed hair. and make sure it is completely dry before you take them out. also a styling product to do them may help.

when i do mine i let the twists stay in for a day or so before i take them out and separate it a bit. this will usually stay for almost a whole week! (like 5 days or so...)

When I untwist I try not to separate the twists too much. When I get up in the morning I spritz my hair with the spritz I'm currently using (water and CD's hair milk) and this usually brings them back to life and I separate the twists some more. My twist outs usually last me about 3-4 days.
