will this kill my hair?

I need advice pretty bad...i'm 20 years old....my hair used to be nice curly/wavy but i was too young to appritiate it & know what to do with it so around 17 i started getting it relaxed 2 times a year...i got tired of spending hours styling it and damaging it with heat so i want it to go back to my original texture..problem is my roots are growing in curly & the rest is straight...the past 2 months or so ive been deep conditioning my hair everytime i wash and air drying it to regain health....i should also mention i dye my hair every 3 months....i was thinking of getting a perm to blend my roots and hair all together...im caucasian so braids arent an option for me really....will a perm totally kill my hair all together because of all the chemicals?...the last time i got it relaxed was october 2005..any advice will be greatly appritiated thanks everyone <3

I'm pretty sure perming on top of a relaxer and dye job is a no-no!!! I don't think it's far-fetched to say that your hair might fall out. At best, you might end up with very dry, fried looking hair.

Have you ruled out chopping your hair short? If you don't want to chop right away, you could transition for a while. There are plenty of styles that help you blend the 2 textures. Have you ever tried a braid-out or twist out? After you shower, you can just put your hair in a few braids or two-strand twists, then take them out for nice, chunky waves. I also used to pin-curl my hair to get cute little curls/waves. Depending on how well your hair holds a style, you could also do a braid-out/twist-out/pincurls on dry hair - just spritz the hair a little beforehand for some hold.

Another option is to flat-iron the roots and wear your hair straight. But I wouldn't necessarily recommend that, since you could end up damaging your natural hair.

    i agree with susu.
the perm will do much more harm than good.
i say transition over time and snip a little away at a time or transition for a set period of time then cut.
if you feel comfy with short hair then you might want to BC now.

also, stop getting it colored. no re-touching the roots or anything.

the routine you have now with the air drying and dc is very good. so keep that up. :D

you can transition using rollersets, twistouts, braidouts, etc.
basically anything style that will match your naturally curly hair.
i dont know if your hair is dry, but if it is make sure to keep it moisturized.
especially the demarcation line, which is where the relaxed and natural hair meet.

hope this helps and good luck. :)
    all natural.

Yea I agree with the last two replies because of all that damage already done will make it worse

Don´t perm it. Just let it grow out. Try using mousse or gel, and moisturizers (like leave ins and oils) and your curls will blend nice.

I got my hair texturized and shea butter has helped me to keep it moisturized and with curl definition.

And like ms.g said, just trim your hair and maybe transtion with twistouts.

thank you everybody for advice =) everyone on here is so nice..ive been babying my hair latley to keep its health back- ive been going through deep & leave in conditioner like its water....i wont do the perm im too scared now which is a good thing...im going to keep going for trims but my hair is my security blanket i cant just chop it off, plus i dont have the right kind of face shape for short hair...im going to try a few big braids next time i shower and see what happens...ill update when i see maybe with pics if i figure out how to put them up

the one thing that worried me is not even touching up my roots with color...i did it feb 2nd and usually i do it every 3 months but i will use everything in my power not to do it again until i go on vacation in july (then i have to bc itll look terrible in pics)
