BRHG

I don't know if there is a thread for this one, but I have to post my results thus far:
ICK! I'm not liking this, there is something in it that my hair doesn't like, can't figure it out!
I just did a total cleanse and protein treatment and will give it a few more tries, after that I'm done with it!

What are you pairing it with? I just bought it a couple of weeks ago and tried it for the first time. I've had two different kinds of results:

    1. When I used it over my leave-in + curl pudding, BRHG was perfect: it dried crunchy, but I scrunched out the crunch and the curls were touchable yet defined and held for 2 days.

    2. When I used it over my hair milk (which is heavier than my pudding), it made my hair look dirty.

I next want to try it over QCCC, which tends to be pretty light and requires a strong gel for hold.

Based on my recent experiments, I would guess that BRHG is great if you are pairing it with a light curl cream or pudding, but too heavy if you are pairing it with a heavier one...

I mix a pea size of the BRHG with my regular gels. It gives me the hold I need but doesn't dry so crunchy. The only gel I don't pair it with all the time is my LA Looks since it has a lot of hold on it's own. Well except for today since it's pouring and windy.

Hmmmmm, think I might have to try it over the curl butter sample when it comes, or the lock and twist--ordered a full jar of that, the mango condish and the new jelly and requested samples of the cocoa hemp and cocoa butter, if they are as good or better than lock and twist then I will be set for life!

I was using a tiny bit over [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Kinky-Curly-Curling-Custard-p-778.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=kinkycurly-curling-custard]KCCC[/buylink]---yuck, dirty producty feeling hair.

I don't like it either! I've had two days of total hideosity. Yesterday I used it over KBB Nectar, then today over Innercense Quiet Calm. The first day, I diffused, the second day I air dried. It made my wavy hair quite curly, but it's not the kind of curl I like (super crispy ramen noodles, and dry feeling). Even after scrunching out the crunch, it just felt coated and icky....like I was wearing a wig! I'm starting to think I'm not the gel type, at least not one this potent. I prefer softer, bouncy hair that I can run my fingers through. Maybe I'll give it one last shot and try mixing it with something else :confused3:

    Hideosity. Excellent word, kitten59.

I cannot use BRHG by itself. It's way too much for my hair. My best results are to use it only in higher dew points and to dilute it with aloe vera gel. I've heard of several people who mix it with [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Kinky-Curly-Curling-Custard-p-778.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=kinkycurly-curling-custard]KCCC[/buylink] to good effect but I haven't tried that yet.
3a and strictly CG since August 2007. Porous and on the fine side. No to magnesium sulfate and glycerin. Yes to protein! Favorites:
    CO-WASHES: Suave Coconut
CONDITIONERS and LEAVE-INS: Mop Top Daily Conditioner, KBB Nectar, Aubrey GPB or Island Naturals, Robert Craig, Any Jessicurl
    CURL ENHANCERS/CREMES/MOUSSES: KCCC, JoiWhip
GELS: Fuzzy Duck, B5 Design, MGA Scultping, BRHG

Thanks Jillipoo ;-)!! Yep, for me, on it's own, it is not just crunchy, it is peanut brittle. I'm going to try mixing this with [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Kinky-Curly-Curling-Custard-p-778.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=kinkycurly-curling-custard]KCCC[/buylink] tomorrow and I'll report back!

Abbreviation/acronym sticky from the general board. :D.

I like BRHG but only if I use a pea size. Anymore and it gets stringy and dirty looking plus impossible to SOTC.

I never had any luck with it. All I ever got was stringy frizz whenever I used it.

I really like BRHG, but I can only use it in the summer.

My summer hair routine completely changes. I used SheaM with BRHG with lots of success this summer.

In the winter, it is too hard a hold for me, but it is a definite keeper for the hot humid weather.
Type: 3a fine & dense, with normal porosity, terrible product junkie
ROUTINE: LI, enhancer, gel, plop with Curlease towel, serum product (either CIAB or Gel-les'c), clip & diffuse.
Too many favourite products to list ... I finally have my routine that works and alot of products to choose from. My product stash is huge, but well loved !!!
